I was a little off but it was 7 in 8 days with 6 days straight of shows based off the schedule on her site.

 

The more I think about this stuff the more annoyed I get. I just want Chappell Roan to be fun!!! I just want to put on the silly little HOT TO GO song and do the silly little dance and have 0 thoughts while I do it. Why do we have to ruin EVERYTHING?? When did society decide that we hate having fun??

 

Mental health and physical health are super important. She's been under an insane microscope, and so it is what it is.

Cancellations are always awful for fans, because in some cases people have really invested to see a show, so I feel awful for anyone who's missing out. Hope ATG is still a good time either way.

 

Agreed and I’m sure we’ll still have fun. Just hope I’ll be able to get tickets whenever she tours next lol

 

Genuinely curious if she plays ACL and the other dates she has scheduled this next week or if those are also scrapped. I imagine they are and ACL is working on a last minute replacement.

 

She said she needed “a few days” so I’d imagine she is going to go through with the rest as long as she feels ready after this weekend.

 

I kinda doubt that. You don't pull out of two prominent festival slots last minute unless it's a serious issue. I imagine she's already figuring out with her team how to pull out of ACL.

 

Is it that weird? We have Reading And Leeds here in the Uk that occur on the same weekend, with whole lineup playing both on different days (Reading’s Fri is Leeds Sat for example).

Seems fairly normal to me?

 

Watching her go through everything this year made me realise how fucked fame is. Absolutely no one is prepared for this level of attention and scrutiny. She’s definitely handled a couple of things pretty poorly, but that just makes me think the team around her is dropping the ball.

 

No updated set times two hours before doors is crazy, right? Understood if they can’t find a replacement but surely they’d move things around so there isn’t a two hour gap in the middle of the fest? This whole thing is a mess.

 

Yeah their lone post so far this morning of the mascot with no news is cringe.

I highly doubt they are just going to leave the space empty, I’m sure they know by now if they are going to have anyone to fill it or not

 

Yeah a common criticism I've seen thrown around is "she's not built for fame" and I'm like "who the fuck is???".

I can't imagine going through this without turning into Azealia Banks (without the slurs filled rants)

 

I feel like we as humans aren't designed to be famous like that. And I feel bad because I get the feeling she wants to keep her team who've been with her from the beginning but they may not know how to help her rn since they also may not be equipped for her huge rise. I can't imagine the pressure to capitalize on the momentum and strike while the irons hot, feeling like she may lose it all if she doesn't. It's probably like the Sunday scaries x50 for her and I wish her all the best

 

I have a little hope that she won’t cancel ACL as they already pushed her to headlining status and changed her days. She was the main reason we decided to go, however, I’d completely understand if she does, and even though I’d be disappointed there’s still plenty of other artists to see

A few weeks ago I replied to a tweet that ended up going viral, leading to a lot of people seeing and responding to my reply. So many people completely misinterpreted what I was saying and it made me feel insane. I had to hold myself back from arguing with all of these randos. And it wasn’t even about something important like politics - it was about making dinner plans lmao

 

In 2024 more than ever I'd guess. It's always been awful, but the scrutiny introduced by the internet is beyond anything.

 

I keep seeing ppl online lecturing Chappell to behave how well established artists do who came up in a completely different era. She's not Beyonce or Taylor's Gen. It took years for them to get big enough to not do interviews or much media and be more selective, and they didn't come up in the age of tiktok. Also love how us normies feel like we can give advice on being famous which is honestly something none of us can truly fathom how it feels.

I feel like chappell is a different beast because how fast she got so big, but also I'm hoping this is also a generation divide. because (this is a generalization) Gen z seems to have better boundaries with not working themselves to death and wanting balance in their lives, at least from the folks I know. I hope we see a shift towards that for the young popstars coming up too. Less 2007 Britney and 27 club issues plz.

I was a huge pop culture follower in the mid 00s and I don't think many people remember how truly heinous it was. Chappell missing shows isn't great but like better that than burned out, having a mental breakdown, or dead in a few years. I know I'm just preaching to the choir here tho

 

I would understand if she wanted to take longer breaks in between touring and releasing albums just to not constantly be in the spotlight. iirc even Mitski was like, This is my last album!, before releasing another album
