But not feeling bad for a laborer being fucked over by his employer because that’s what the industry has done for the last 30 years isn’t the right conclusion either

Because WWE did the same thing to Shameus and Drew last year but people are all of a sudden losing their shit as if TK invented this stuff lol

Who the fuck cares who came up with it. It still doesn’t make it right. If your friend decided to go to play with bear are you gonna follow along and do it as well?

nobody is acting like TK invented this, just pointing out that he's not your friend. he's an asshole billionaire who's doing asshole billionaire things

But honestly it would be cool if this caused wrestlers to tell their agents to not include stuff like this. It definitely sucks for talent and is pretty crappy.

And again nobody is saying TK invented anything. My god the tribalism is strong in here tonight

I only brought them up because I find it weird to see a lot of people who really love WWE (not just drew im talking primarily about twitter and Facebook friends I have) who are dunking on AEW saying “so much for being an alternative” which is just so weird to me.

Like in the tribalist culture that is wrestling, it’s so bananas to see people be like “see! The company you like is just as shady and shitty as the company I like so now it’s all okay!”

It’s not tribalism, I just personally think the story is being blown out of proportion. I could give a fuck less if it were WWE doing the same stuff. Don’t sign a contract if you don’t like the terms.

This. It’s all over Twitter from people who usually post extremely anti AEW stuff and don’t really care about the talent.

Not a particularly easy or fair thing to say to people working in an industry desperate for like 9274 antitrust lawsuits lol.

I mean I agree but things aren’t gonna really change.TKO has a ton of lobbying to prevent stuff like that. Unfortunately those lawsuits will not do anything especially with AEW around and the average fan does not give a shit about any of the gross stuff about this industry. People mostly only care to make one company look worse than the other when the entire industry is fucked in certain ways it operates.

It’s very similar to the UFC having BS contracts that do stuff like this. Their antitrust lawsuit has basically been a slap on the wrist. Given that I don’t see TKO changing any of these things anytime soon.

AEW is definitely in a hard place where you get shit if you do the same, but you also get taken advantage of if you don’t have these clauses. I think it’s definitely a lot more nuanced that how black/white people are presenting it as. I don’t think there’s an easy solution.

Well for what it’s worth people on Twitter do this to wwe talent as well

I agree which is why I find “don’t like the terms of a contract? Don’t sign it” kinda eye rolling. That’s all I’m saying.

I get it. I mean until wrestlers take a stand, we can’t really expect owners to realistically change? Hopefully news like this puts the thought into talents minds to fight to not have stuff like that in their contracts.

Also Fenix did a fucking lot for Tony, it’s pretty fucked that Tony couldn’t give him a little leeway for all he did. Fenix was a fucking work horse

So petty for TK and anyone who does that shit. Just let people work where they want to work

Guess the lucha bros shouldn’t have signed their biggest paycheck ever if they didn’t want a billionaire to abuse independent contracts what absolute doofuses

I will say I hope that they get the Andrade treatment and get to be workhorses like he has been the last few months. I really don’t want to see them get wasted since they don’t have much longer left considering how hard they’ve been going at it the last ten years.

I miss solo Penta. I honestly hope he goes before Fenix if he has to wait. No reason he can’t have a fun solo run before Fenix shows up.

Dude I totally agree, I feel like Penta could be on the level of 08-09 Jeff Hardy in being marketed.
