US wake up, your proxies are fighting.

 

Reducing Taiwan to a U.S. proxy ignores its unique history and the will of its people to remain distinct from China, regardless of any American involvement whatsoever. Taiwan’s leadership and people have their own aspirations for autonomy and self-determination, and make decisions independent of U.S. influence.

So, proxy isn’t the word you’re looking for.

 

How is a Chinese faction retreating to an island with its own indigenous population and deciding they run it now an example of “self determination”?

 

Why does a political and military faction that lost a civil war have a right to “self determination”? Does the confederacy have this right?

I attended one of the town hall straw polls, we got a ton of calls from members upset because the majority of the 60 people who showed up to vote in our 11,000 person Local went to Biden. Had we done a direct mail-in or phone poll of our members, I’m sure it would have been majority for Trump over Biden. You get more respondents with mail/phone polling than expecting people to get up and drive into the city on a Saturday at 9am lol

i was one of the votes for West.

 

yeah figures the most engaged folks would drive into town and pick Biden haha. But yeah I assume some of it is trusting Biden on unions more than Harris, but i can’t doubt a racial component/female component of it either. But either way, it’s insane how they can see how anti union the Repub party is and think Trump will be better for them.

 

Oh yeah well we are in America so 100% racism/sexism are a factor. I also think Teamsters/a lot of Unions have been pretty bad about member education and engagement. It’s very easy to point to Elon Musk trying to undermine the NLRB, explain to members that it would make their contracts unenforceable, and highlight that he is one of Trump’s largest backers. But that work hasn’t been done. So when they just announced “yeah we’re gonna poll the members” I knew the direction that would go.

And now members are going to be pissed that they’re “being ignored” so this was just such a dumb exercise all around.
