So much of what I used to consider “directing” really is just cinematography. I underrand directors have their point of view on where they want the shots to come from, but it’s so much more beyond that. Sure, Nolan may shoot a lot of his own stuff, but he still used Wally Pfister like a third arm. So much of what you remember in movies is visual. To be honest, I don’t recall a TON of dialog from the Batman, but the flickering of the TV finally showcasing the Riddler in the room with the mayor? That shit is burned into my brain.
