Stan Van Gundy (Pistons Head Coach) went on a glorious rant on the election. I would post the whole transcript but it is fairly long and I can't find a video. I highly suggest going and reading it.

 

There was a great argument for it when slave owners didn't want their slaves to vote, but DID want the slave population to represent the owner's interest. So, it exists because of slavery.

 

I seriously can't believe what I'm seeing right now. Like Jason posted a picture of a swastika and MAKE AMERICA WHITE AGAIN sprayed onto a wall and someone want to cry foul about "a disease to kill white people"? How obtuse can someone be? Like can you not tell the difference between which one is actually a problem and affects people?

 

Couldn't even celebrate the upset last night when Chole won a seat on the Portland City Council and we officially elected Kate Brown (an openly LGBT governor). I helped my mom with a few things in the city I grew up in as well and she's city administrator, and they passed, but none of it got a celebration.

 

How exactly does one suck a fuck?

 

Again the "disease comment" is an expression of extreme anger. I'm sitting here like "yeah, sure, fucking send some small pox in and I'll rub it all over my body right now" — so, it doesn't bother me, I get why someone took issue with it, but can we just let it go?

 

My dad and I have an identical relationship, and haven't said a word to each other about this election. Can't imagine it being healthy in any way, and our relationship is fragile, to the point where I could see years going by before speaking again if it were to come up.

 

Because, like ALL groups in the world there are insane idiots within those group that don't represent them?

 

I weep.

 

That's why I stopped engaging and have zero plans to start again.

I am very saddened that there were 3 historic female victories night but the nation is grieving too much to properly celebrate them. (And those that aren't grieving are not the same people who WOULD celebrate them.)

 

Fair enough.


My biggest concern is what may happen with the EPA and Climate change. So far the Paris agreement looks safe but I fear what may come next.

I made it a POINT to talk about Kate Brown at work today. Sparked a few nice conversations and some smiles. All you can ask for on a day like today I guess.

 

I could say that I jinxed it by going out and getting an air horn to blast if Hillary won, but I also had my suitcase by my side to go to Canada for if Trump won so I think that levels it out.

I also thought of one good thing for a Trump presidency: The TPP won't be passed. But that does not outweigh the thousands of other terrible things he could do.

 

I'm certain it would make a difference if people believed the election was close. What kind of difference and in which direction, idk.

There's no shortage of blame to go around and some deserve more than others, but "we," the American public, absolutely failed.

 

That's why you gotta organize, so people know a nazi flag is not a good way to protest Nazis. Unless you're burning it

 

Shut the fuck up. There are people in here in real danger from white supremacy. Fuck your feelings. White people founded this country on hatred and death. Our hatred and death. That is what racism means. The means by which to measure their worth, the economic security and so forth, by the suffering of others. This is institutionalized. My hatred of white people at this very moment is rooted in a very real danger for everyone I love, because they were sacrificed on the altar of making America great again. Again, this is racism: the power and resources to make your country great through the agony of others. You may not understand that power, you may even deny it exists, but let me tell you, it is real and it is ever present through every social interaction we have. I don't give a fuck about a definition meant to make white people feel better about racism by prying it away from material actions. There is an alternative, more thorough definition and it can be seen in reality. So, once again, shut the fuck up.
