Papa Roach was one of those bands that got lumped into nu metal due to Jacoby rapping on the first album but, if anything, they had more in common with like Faith No More and RHCP at first. They even played the Warped Tour the summer that Infest came out.

Also, was thinking about LP's discography given the news:

HYBRID THEORY (2000) - Still a landmark in the genre. Production is immaculate and the way they blended various genres was really cool and underappreciated at the time. It was almost like what Radiohead intended to do with Kid A but whereas RH were still indebted to classic rock lineage, LP had no perceived notions of it and were happy to blend hip hop, electronica, hard rock, etc.
METEORA (2003) - A nice continuation of the Hybrid Theory area where they tightened up on the elements that worked well while also expanding slightly in various directions. "Breaking The Habit" in particular is them doing their best Depeche Mode impersonation
MINUTES TO MIDNIGHT (2007) - A bit uneven but definitely a needed break from their formula and, more importantly, allowed them to appeal to fans in the Warped scene by doing package tours with MCR, TBS, Coheed, etc.
A THOUSAND SUNS (2010) - Still a really cool record and underappreciated at the time. I like the prog elements of it and love how they essentially deconstructed their entire sound.
LIVING THINGS (2012) More synth-heavy than their previous works with some cool stuff on here. Also more pop focused than A Thousand Suns which is probably what some fans were longing for.
THE HUNTING PARTY (2014) - I'm a little "meh" on this one as it feels like an over-corrective to their last 3 records trying to prove they were heavy when they never really that heavy to begin with. Still given it's LP there's a ton of attention paid to songcraft and production so all around enjoyable.
ONE MORE LIGHT (2017) - In retrospect there was WAY too much hysteria over Linkin Park "selling out" as there is some really delicate, vulnerable stuff here made all the mode sadder given Chester's passing.

Curious to see where they go with the new one.

chris, the lead singer, is an absolute trumper. it's quite reflective in their recent album. with that said he's been a nice dude with the interactions i've had with him in the early 2000's. take that how you like.

Is it? I'd thought they'd done a fair job of keeping his politics out of his lyrics, but to be fair, I really haven't listened to their newest album more than once.

Are y'all really debating the merits of Trapt? Y'all, the band is currently only relevant BECAUSE the singer is a super Trumper online.

I'm so ashamed of all of you. I'm going to start using Penlab's favorite term, butt rock, very loosely knowing this.

I'm afraid we've reached the point where any miniscule opinion or piece of info is going to get spun in a headline to incite emotion.

I hope i'm reading it wrong but reading that Hybrid Theory is a more successful version of Kid A and what Radiohead intended to do is kind of hilarious. I absolutely adore Hybrid Theory. Besides blending genres they weren't trying to make the same kind of album.

    this is all there is

My favorite thing about Trapt is that despite the legacy plays they still receive online, they have been relegated to playing at the combo dive bar/pizza joint (formerly a bowling alley) 10 miles outside of Birmingham on their last tour. Absolutely hilarious.

It's funny because I'm not sure if you're talking about Birmingham AL or UK, because THIS was where they played in Alabama last. Hilarious.

either they or Emily posted a photo yesterday of their performance, and Mike was in the comments saying "let's show Emily some love", so we're not gonna get another statement from them, methinks
