Idk about specs. Imo The only reason to buy any console is for exclusives. You can do pretty much all the same shit with a pc, or steam deck if we're talking handheld. If you have the money to drop on a ps5 you don't have to wait for a TLOU2 pc port like I am. I'm not saying pc is the best option, or even the most affordable one. I just haven't had a new console since PS1

 

The only reason we need a ps5 pro is because devs are abusing ray tracing on hardware that was never meant to do that, completely tanking image quality. It’s infuriating because we gain so little from it.

and the games that are struggling or don’t have 60fps modes at all are all CPU bound (like space marine)

 

Actually I wanna see the trade in promos that GameStop will have for the pro. I know I said I'm out but if tomorrows presentation wows me I may be back in. Just need to buy faceplates for the slim cuz I heard the pro and slim will share plates. $600 is the sweet spot, hopefully no more.

 

Devs have gotten lazy on the optimization front. Like there’s no excuse that Astro Bot can do all that cool graphical stuff at 60 FPS without breaking a sweat and all these companies using UE5 (which basically does so much heavy lifting for you already) can’t. It’s why this generation has suffered a lot, you got all these companies trying to make the most flashy games possible at the expense of the game actually working and again, it’s ridiculous that Sony wants to fork out another $600 or whatever it’s gonna cost for a Pro because they don’t make developers be realistic about what they’re making and they’re making the players upgrade to compensate.

 

UE5 is precisely so demanding because it uses software based raytracing in Lumen which hammers the GPU quite hard. Trust me, no one is being lazy here but these consoles are so powerful, if it wasn't for stupid technologies pushed upon us which are giving us diminishing returns at best, we wouldn't need new hardware for years.

I mean look me in the eye and tell me that a game needs to look better -- or hell, as good as -- Ratchet & Clank.
