We need to employ contact theory and get racial/demographic groups mixing in more with these voters that turned out from secluded rural areas.

Let's revive that TV program where people swapped wives for a week.

obama needs to start dismantling the security and surveillance apparatuses now. he has three months to undo much of what he has put into place. he needs to phsycially destroy machinery if need be. he cannot allow trump to have access to that kind of infrastructure in place.

If there's a movie that embodies the best of humanity, it's Moonlight. The warmth and joy and love in that movie is so important right now.

I am devastated to be in this reality. I am so proud of the friends I've worked with in BLM Chicago and how they have dealt with such overwhelming hostility and danger the last couple years, and wish so badly I was back there as the climate only gets worse and they defiantly press on. I don't share a lot of my personal life here, but it truly is magnificent what they continue to do as the country around them continues to fan the flames of the worst of us. That resiliency does give me hope, because there was such power there. I know it is elsewhere too. We owe so much to them and activists like them who have pushed the consciousness even as most dismiss them or remain unaware of how the narrative gets rewritten and the climate gets re-shaped. I am horrified and close to numb today. But there is so much more ahead.

Honest question: What does getting more actively involved in activism look like on a practical level?

I won't stop sharing things online, but especially while I'm in a weird transitional point in my life where I don't know what's next, but I want to figure out at least SOMETHING else to contribute in addition to that.

Join a party or a union or some kind of community/local charity group. That's probably a good baseline way into it

I've been thinking a lot about the way forward after last night, and I'll be honest... I still have faith in those of us who stand against Trumpism in all its forms. There's gonna be setbacks in the next few years, and there's no denying that the representation of our government isn't on our side right now. But I'm looking at what can be done. You guys wanted to see a mass radicalization where casual "liberals" turn into activists and make their voices of protest heard? This could be it. As a lot of you know I'm more moderate than quite a few of you on a number of issues. But right now I'm mad as HELL, and I intend to keep up that anger and passion for as much of the next four years as I need to. I refuse to stand by and let people I know and love suffer under Trump policies without a fight. Trump may get a lot of what he wants for now... but I damn well believe that if people stand up and make themselves heard, he's not going to get it easy.
