Hey, so, remember Goldwater, the guy who, if he had won, would've nuked all of indochina and exacerbated domestic problems to the point where major cities probably would've burned to the ground? Remember when, even after he lost, Watts happened, and then that spread all over, and then they had to a third civil rights legislation?

See, this is like that, except our Goldwater is an emotional infant who loves to tweet and loves nazis. Oh, and we're not a getting a Civil Rights Act. Cities are gonna burn next summer, I feel it

 

Can't find the tweet but basically Trump won 75 electoral points by getting just 150k more total votes than Hilary in Florida, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan.

Tbh I'd feel less powerless if I lived in a city. at least then I could protest and attend panels and get involved again. here there's just nothing. it's so dead I feel like there's nothing I can do. I'm not gonna stop being involved in the ways I am now but I wish I was somewhere where I could learn more and do better and grow and not be stuck in this dead end middle of nowhere bs where nothing happens and hopes go to die.

 

Pramila Jayapal won in WA07. She's a fairly radical leftist, possibly even more so than Ellison. Gives me a bit of hope to invision how people like herself and Keith are gonna help stand up to Trump for us.

True, but it appears that nearly everything was a bad predictor this year considering how pretty much everyone but that guy we make fun of on here got this wrong.

 

I spent months saying it would be very close and begging for votes everywhere.

It may not matter much, but this election has sparked something in me to go out and do those things (living in the capital of CA helps). My hope is that it's done the same for others. I don't know what to do yet, or how, but I'm really going to try and learn and get out there. I feel like it's important, especially now.
