I'm watching YouTube videos explaining the lore / story, and it seems like Ridley Scott decided that extraterrestrial Space Jesus was too silly and/or on the nose, so they took out any explicit mention of that in the movie, but the plot and story were never changed, so Space Jesus is still a part of this movie only it is vaguely alluded to and not explicitly spelled out in dialogue

I could’ve sworn I saw this already, but apparently this is new.

    official logline:
When a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth, a young woman (Sydney Chandler) and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat.

Not that I’ve seen. I think it’s just this thread and the Alien franchise thread.

so can we assume this is a ship that David came into contact with, an Engineer ship that somehow has a near final form Xenomorph/egg on board, or will it retcon the prequels entirely (since Noah Hawley said he's gonna focus less on the events of those films)?

  7. I would assume the latter, but you never know with this franchise.

Will be a huge bummer if it retcons the prequels. Especially after Romulus embraced them so heavily.

Could you or anyone else explain why the former would be the case? I’m too high to remember the lore from the prequels right now. Lol

Isn’t Ridley Scott involved with the show? I can’t imagine he would okay that.

so the show takes place a year after Prometheus, so maybe David isn't actually involved since his experiments took place a few years later in Covenant. i'm just curious how they'll connect since it's been widely suggested they might retcon the prequels.

Isn’t it a year before Prometheus, not after?

This is just someone guessing with no actual knowledge outside of the time period and setting, so I don’t know why they jumped to everything being retconned. We know the log line now and still barely know anything about it. Lol

I really don’t think Ridley would be on board for that, but I don’t know the man obviously. I think people are just taking everything at face value and just assuming things will need to be retconned when there’s nothing really to go off of yet. I will be pretty fucking bummed if that’s not the case though. Lol

I don’t disagree, that said the line of thinking is logical. More importantly, I don’t know if this article was ALL that the buzz was about or if Haley ALSO actually made a statement like that. Waiting for someone to dig that up for the thread.

Okay now it makes more sense to me. My bad!

I still don’t think I’m worried just yet. Or I’m just coping. Lol. I’m just gonna have faith that there’s more to it than we think and that it’ll fit into the timeline still.
