Vampire Survivors is GOATed but I’m having a lot of fun with deep rock galactic survivor

 

You know I play a lot of legitimate 7s, your Callisto Protocols, Flintlock and what have you … and playing them back to back just made me realize what a wide gulf there is.

I think we need to re-think the scale we rate video games on, because it’s just such a widely different experience that even just boiling it down to a single digit seems so reductive.

 

Is the ven diagram of people who hate doing stealth missions more than once and love fighting a Souls boss 500x to beat it a perfect circle? Hahaha jk.

Outlaws is so good. It's 2am and I'm only stopping for the night because my dog is crying for me to come to bed.

 

Oh it’s out and I already have at least 10 hours in it and probably 25 Trophies.

 

Mobile is horrible

 

I mean I think people take a 7 too harshly it’s actually a fine score imo especially when I think of how music is rated 7/10 is a good almost great album idk why people see a 7/10 video game as a failure

 

Because „we“ historically don’t use the full scale. Like yeah, an EDGE 7 is fine but an IGN 7 is definitely cause for concern.

 

Which never made sense to me if you do a full scale system why not use the full scale? At that point a 5 star system works better

 

Opening of this review's making me a lot more interested in picking this up eventually. Touches on criticisms people have been mentioning a lot while fairly assessing the game as a whole, despite those issues.

 

It truly is a beautiful game and I am having a blast. The stealth sections are cool and your little companion is awesome and cute at the same time. I have never gotten tired of the stealth sections and if I fail it’s always been my fault.

Also, the game doesn’t force you to do stealth. It’s very much like Dishonored where there is a choice but the stealth choice makes the game easier.

 

I will say that I could do without the lock picking

 

Yall convinced me to pick it up but I’ll probably wait until a sale. It will be nice to use my series x for something lol.

 

IGN is fucking trash though, so why even apply any kind of logic to their reviews?

I for one dislike instant fail stealth missions and excessively difficult bosses that require way too many tries, so whatever venn diagram that is I'm certainly not part of it haha

 

Just kidding. I am terrible at most games

 

IGN laid off all of Humble Games' staff, so "fine" is doing a lot of work right now.

 

yeah but we're not talking about IGN the company, but IGN the journalistic entity. ;)

 

They suck at journalism too btw

 

Fine. They do break important stories, but, and you've pointed this out yourself, they're not that great when it comes to actually reviewing games.

If you have to readjust your mental wavelength to account for a grading scale only they're aware of, I'm not sure that's a positive on them.
