I read “I Survived Hurricane Katrina” to my second grade students and show pictures / videos from the storm. They are always very interested in what happened. We talk about how people had nowhere to go, no way to leave the city, and how help never came.

I feel compelled to add another serious issue to the discussion: corruption. I mean, look at this: https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/co...d-guilty-counts-corruption-charges-rcna159955. Gold bars and large sums of cash. And they want us to trust the politicians.
But he will appeal it, I'm sure. Appeals can be based on a number of factors, as shown here, including potential jury bias or misconduct during the trial. It's important that our justice system remains fair and impartial, guaranteeing that even those in power are held accountable without prejudice. That's what I hope for, at least.
