while i appreciate it for my own purposes, they definitely need an option to turn it off for those who either don't use Hulu or don't want it# on their own D+ profiles. it's gonna get worse because they're launching an ESPN tab in the fall (one i don't subscribe to), so now we're gonna be inundated with content from 3 different streaming services in one app.

 

i do know that there are rating-specific parental controls you can implement, but again, that can only do so much when there's inconsistent standards for ratings (i.e. Temple of Doom and Frozen have the same MPAA rating)

Oh yeah I have no doubt people are doing that. Idk how most people don’t even use guided access when they hand a kid a phone or tablet.

But I would’ve figured Disney would care more about having a more family friendly alternate setup after adding Hulu. That’s wild

 

My best guess is they have data showing that having to switch apps decreases engagement, just like the dumb thing about how moving the Continue Watching area “below the fold” increased engagement by some crazy number. Bad UX but it makes the shareholders happy.

Agreed that it’s weird for image-conscious Disney though.

 

Episode 6 was the episode that completely won me over. Someone compared this show to a play and that is spot on.
