As someone who has followed politics closely in the past but now I'd say I am just more somewhat aware because work is just so crazy I'm not doing much outside of it, I feel like I need a reality check because I enjoy Pete buttigieg so much but I know stanning a politician is not the move because he's probably done sucky and corrupt things too and politicians shouldn't be put on a pedestal. But he markets himself so well I always enjoy him when I come across something he's saying or doing

 

Sometimes I want an IPA, sometimes I want an IC Light. I’m multifaceted.

pete worked for a white shoe consulting firm that companies hire to fire most of their workforce and cut benefits efficiently

 

his past work is a little slimey (he worked for McKinsey) which makes you wonder what he really believe in/where is priorities are. During the 2020 primary he tried to pivot to the center a bit after previously espousing some progressive ideas.

he is REALLY good at articulating his thoughts and I think also really good at explaining things in simpler terms for people, though I can see why some folks might find him a little too college professor-y.

Basically there’s reason to believe he could be a step forward for Dems, but also reason to believe he could adhere to the same overly corporate friendly stuff of past Dem
Admins. Social issues he’d be pretty great on, foreign policy like most Dems I assume would be his worst trait. Like it’s hard for me to imagine him being the guy to rebuke Israel until they pull back, but maybe? I think he’d make an okay president down the line but hard to see him ever being my first choice. I would assume there would always be someone more progressive than him in the race.

Anytime I say something halfway positive about Pete half the thread calls me a moron
