Currently watching the most popular political streamer in America sitting alone in his hotel room after getting pushed out of the DNC : "I shit on anarchists all the time, but after watching this speech? Holy shit they're not wrong"

 

DNC is only a few years away from being as cult ish as trumpers

 

This speech:

• Deregulate the housing market
• Tax cuts
• The most lethal military in the world
• We are going to protect abortion but not tell you how
• Right wing immigration bill

 

They wanted a functional right wing party so badly that they became one

and in the US they’ll be called communists still

I think my realization after the disillusionment of the Obama years that the Democratic Party is not a party that represents me, or my actual interests and priorities, is what helped me move on from needing to actually follow politics at the national level and hope for anything.

Like a break up where years later you understand “never right for each other why did I keep thinking they’d change (or I’d change what I want)” I accepted who they are, and that had helped me have closure. They cater to a group of people that I know; I have friends that all of this feels very in line with their actual beliefs. But I can’t in good conscience support or feel “good” about any of it. I’ll probably vote, and I’ll be happy if a man I despise loses, but letting it just stop and sit there has given me freedom from an anxiety I felt for years. Because I thought this party should, or could, be something that was a political expression of my beliefs. They are not. Divorcing myself from that had given me more clarity and less trouble breathing over the past few years. Just random musings after a couple beers and reading through this thread a bit.
