Perfectly fine, because IM NOT THE ONE MAKING THE DECISION. I'm just the one pointing it out for simply existing. Fucking brainless.

Generally I think you can and should advocate against democrats' stance on gaza (and basically everything else,) all you want because the party establishment is evil. But ultimately once election day comes, if statistically one of those two parties is gonna win no matter what, personally I feel like I owe it to my communities to choose the option that won't actively villainize and persecute them.

If you think that's genocide apologia, you're free to feel that way, but I simply don't think that a long term "destroy the democratic party so we can maybe, possibly, eventually have a genuine left wing movement in the distant future" is a plausible enough strategy that it's worth giving the right wing a legislative (and just as importantly, cultural) victory in the short term.

Ultimately a Republican presidency will cause more suffering (domestically and globally) than a Democratic presidency, even if you don't believe the right wing will accelerate the genocide in gaza (they will). The only way you can disagree with voting against Republicans is you believe that Gaza's suffering represents some sort of abstractly unique western evil that must be avenged before any other form of suffering can be addressed.

  14. Avenged? as if it’s done? it’s ongoing. the democrats are actively doing it. they’re proud of it. you’re voting for them.

The Democrats can stop worrying about Pro Palestinian activists “destroying” them by stopping doing genocide.

Genocidal parties and polities deserve to be dismantled

it has been a consistent priority of the Democratic Party to supply Israel with the weapons and resources to commit a genocide against Palestine that started long before 10/7. Since 10/7 we’ve watched at least 40,000 Palestinians murdered by American made and supplied bombs as Israel starves Gaza, levels schools, murders journalists, and lies consistently and openly about their aims. The US has stood by their side through all of this. What gives you an idea that Harris might do anything differently once she’s elected?

While you're correct on all that, I also can't remember a time that (unfortunately) we're seeing the levels of protests that we are and Uncommitted and Palestinian representation rising up. This happened under the Biden administration. Let me remain hopeful that if someone as big as the UAW who just endorsed Kamala, and others can in turn raise the issue up, that they simply can't ignore it any more. Yes we've always been hand in hand with Israel but it's embarrassing that we're doing that now with everything I'd hope that Kamala would not want this stain from Biden's presidency to transfer to hers so it's in her best interest to reverse course once she's in office.

    It's hopium.

I’m going to look for opportunities to say this periodically so it’s not lost in the shuffle: if you feel like voting for a Democrat is harm reduction and that your vote is useful to that end, then that’s all well and good. Even if I am not going to vote for Harris, I’m not going to make a value judgement against people for doing what they think is the moral thing as long as they are clear about why (although I do think it is vital that you find other ways outside of electoral politics to aid Palestine). However, what I do think constitutes genocide apologia is

    A) treating the Dems like cute little goofballs or fun personalities or making jokes that cast them in an endearing light while they are perpetuating something that will 100% be looked back on as one of the greatest tragedies of this century,

    B) shaming people abstaining from voting because they have a different moral calculus on what constitutes harm reduction (especially people who are actively involved in resisting US imperialism, which goes double for people from within the communities most closely related to the struggle),

    C) bringing up Hamas as if it is at all comparable to Israel, or Ukraine-Russia as if conventional war is comparable to the slaughter of a captive population, especially when deployed as some sort of ~gotcha~ type bullshit,

    D) acting like the Democrats have no other option than to support Israel and do nothing to stop this genocide, and

    E) acting like it’s wrong to acknowledge the Party’s complicity in all of this because scores of dead, tortured, and mutilated Palestinians are worth the price of a Kamala victory/Trump defeat.

In short: the @Victor Eremita model is a sound one, in my opinion. Aside from that though, as it relates to the Democratic Party, you do not, under any circumstances, “gotta hand it to them.”
