Genuinely: what are things that Dems would want that they would compromise on to get Green Party (or any third party to their left) votes?

 

I’m going to build my own political party

 

It's just the nature of legislating and the bills that get passed these days, which are generally bills with a ton of different, sometimes (or often) unrelated things in it. You get a group of 4-5 Green party reps in there, in a congress that's like 220-215 Dem/Green to Repub, and suddenly it's "Okay we'll vote for your bill doing ____ if you put another 30 billion in there for ____" or whatever. And that would be easier for Green Party members to do over progressive Dem members as they can't be as easily threatened with primaries and lack of support for elections and etc. Also not 100% sure of the committee chair selection and how that would work with a 3rd party, like if you say you're caucusing with the Dems I think that means you also get to vote on committee chairs and what not, which can impact what those committees prioritize.

Stopped into a local novelty gift shop and saw the "I'm Speaking" Kamala shirt Stephen King was wearing in that one photo he tweeted. The celebrating and capitalising off her shutting down people protesting genocide is so obscenely grim. I know that I know better than to feel so taken aback by it, but jfc

 

I was just driving and saw a BIDEN FETTERMAN 2024 sticker. Wtf

 

Just saw a commercial during the Phillies game that was straight up a Willie Horton commercial. 'Kamala Harris let this illegal immigrant out of jail in San Francisco and that immigrant went on to kill my loved one. Kamala Harris putting murderers on the street', more or less.

 

+6 in the poll but +23 in favorability is kind of wild. I feel like that probably means there are a bunch of "I don't like Trump as a person but I'm still going to vote for him has president" which is kind of wild

 

If the best you have to offer to Americans as a third party is Jill Stein, then why bother? You can say and promise all the shit as potential policy, doesn’t mean dogshit if your candidate is too.

 

Has a schedule been released yet for the DNC this week (like what speakers each day)?

I knew Vance was a putz and an idiot but didn't know he was one of those "paint false reality" people. I thought I couldn't dislike him more than I did, but I dislike him more every time he speaks.

 

If that does come to pass, and I doubt it will, I genuinely can’t wait to see what new and inventive ways they come up with to not to do jack shit.

 

Maybe I'm an idiot! But I really truly believe that Kamala and Walz have a "get shit done attitude" that honestly I've never seen a President have before. Here's to hoping.
