Okay I wasn’t going to go because it was in Bridgeview and I am moving in September and scheduled my move for the Saturday of Riot, the only day I had any strong interest in going (but knowing that getting to and from Bridgeview was not going to be worth it), and now this happens lmao.

I'm with you here. It's worked out for me in the end. Minor hassle having to re-book but I was able to jump on it within seconds of reading the news so... In the end my trip is going to be cheaper. And I like this location better. So it's all good for me.

But it still really sucks for other people who aren't able to do that who are re-booking for like, the third time this year.

The way Punk in Drublic usually runs most of the bands only get 30 minute sets anyway. The direct support gets 45-60 but everyone prior to that only gets 30... Riot will do them better than that, I'm sure, but I could see a decent chunk of the earlier bands only doing 30 minutes on that stage (Urethane, D.O.A., Codefendants and maybe the next two).

They might also shift an act or two over to Rebel and have that one run later than usual?

EDIT: Could also see some of those mid-day acts on that stage doing 45 minutes. That's plenty for a Buzzcocks, Lagwagon, or D4 set if we're being real about it. Last time they played I'm pretty sure D4 ended their set like, 20 minutes early. LOL

They could have also negotiated an earlier start time with the city and park district. Getting a later curfew is asking for much more.

Not gonna lie, part of the appeal for me going this year was that the shuttle would take me directly into the festival and directly back and not having to fuck with Lyfts/transit, but the proximity is nice and does offer some flexibility, so it's a wash for me. I might try and make the second half of Friday work now that it's a closer ride over.

Does anyone have any tips for leaving the fest and calling a Lyft? The walk from the pink line to the festival kind of killed me in 2022 and I'd really prefer not to have to do that again, but I'll manage either way.

True. With gates opening at 11 it's feasible that bands start at 11:30 or so.

I've always tried to leave about halfway through the headliner and mentally prepared myself to walk 15 minutes or so in the direction of my hotel. At that point, you're still dealing with surge pricing but the wait is generally much quicker.

Festive Owl said this is all due to fan feedback and ticket sales

Yeah, that's what I guessed would be the case, unfortunately. If I'm still dealing with surges, I assumed it just makes sense to pink line it. I was planning on leaving early both days anyway so not the end of the world haha.

Sounds exactly right. And what Riot Mike is claiming is likely just covering his ass.

So they were selling tickets based on this whole “Riot Land” carnival type experience, and who knows if anyone bought tickets just based on that, but I am curious if that is also coming to Douglass or it will just be the usual setup?

With five weeks to go - has to be the usual setup because the park typically gets closed off a week or so before.

They don't mention ticket sales. Just "significant attendee feedback."

I'm just going to assume it was a bit of everything: The city changed their stance on whatever. Logistics at SeatGeek were going to be annoying. People with tickets weren't into it. People without tickets weren't buying them as fast or as much as they'd like to see.

I honestly don't think the festival has it in them to pull some sort of long-haul scheme to get a lower rate. This is going to be rough PR when it comes to people buying early bird next year. I feel like there's other shit beyond ticket sales at play.

I just realized that this means we get to keep the smaller stage for Rebel. That is fantastic news!

Riot fest casino is just buying a ticket and seeing if the fest actually happens.

For the nofx stage they could turn that into 2 stages. The first year riot fest was in Douglass they had 7 stages

If anybody bought tickets to this because there was going to be an Emo Beach Night Dance Party until 11pm at night... That's on them. LOL

right! Festive owl has a certain diplomatic way of discussing fest stuff and if you constantly look at what they say you get it.

I feel like they're usually pretty direct. But I might be missing some of the subtext because I mostly only check-in on that account when it's posted somewhere on this site. LOL

What a fucking shit show. For an established fest, this is poor form.

they have said fan feedback before and that means ticket sales and something like organizational issues means shit show, stuff like that. Financial issues means don’t have money. They only get super direct when they are pissed.
