Netherlands win women's field hockey. Dope looking sport, I'd love to try it sometime.

Didn't realize the Womens Soccer Gold match was tomorrow morning at 10 CT. Luckily my local bar posted that they're opening early to show it, else I would've been at the gym

Honestly I genuinely feel bad for these B-Girls. This was their big Olympic debut of their sport, they trained so hard for this, danced their asses off, they did some incredibly impressive stuff, but literally the only thing people are talking about is how goofy and embarrassing that Australian white lady was.

USA's first weightlifting gold medal since 2000. Since in 2000 we only won Women's lifting gold because the initial winner later tested positive for PEDs, this is our first legitimate gold medal win in lifting since 1960

Just read the last pages of this thread and I have to say, this is a gold mine for a certain subreddit.

    Nah I love her
reddit doesnt know shit about breaking
its not just gymnastics, technique and execution are only 2 of the 5 five critiera. Its dancing; orginaltiy, vocabulary and musicality are scored.
She was never going to out atheletics her competetion so she went all in on orginality, thats the strat the got her there, this time it failed spectaculary but respect.

I’m watching the men’s park final because I couldn’t watch it live and it reminded me that I was also kind of into watching more sloppy than rather than clean skating, but the judges aren’t, haha

Some of the Dutch breakers at the Olympics are from crews affiliated with the performing arts festival I run the marketing team for

Overal breaking at the Olympics feels just a little odd to me still. As a true hip hop head I am proud, but also I know no breaker who considers himself an athlete rather than an artist/dancer (though I am not saying they aren’t out there, I’m sure they are). Many would more closely associate their battles with rap battles than with, like, tennis or judo or whatever.

Also the vibe of these Olympic competitions (and the qualifying events) is way too stiff for breaking. No crowd circles or anything. I understand why, but it doesn’t help.

I can still get into it though and I’m happy for all of them.

Been really enjoying the sports where you have no idea who will win. Boxing has been fun, Rugby 7’s too, BMX & Skateboarding, Kayak Slalom and Cross have ruled. Weightlifting is weirdly fun.

Just want to see some different countries win medals, instead of the same 5/6.

This is a real sweet story. The previous Olympic men's javelin gold medalist was Neeraj Chopra from India. Nadeem beat Chopra here to win gold. India and Pakistan are famously political and military enemies. It turns out though that Chopra and Nadeem are great friends and supportive of eachother
