Omg, Spain just barely missed a goal there

 

They just showed her beating France's Sysy, and I thought commentary said she was advancing because of it because of it but I guess not.

 

yeah she beat Syssy but because she lost 2-0 to Nicka it wasn't enough. She needed to beat Syssy 2-0, but instead won 1-1 on tiebreaks.

 

So apparently they *are* supposed to be judged on Technique, Vocabulary, Execution, Musicality and Originality with 20% going to each rather than just being a subjective "I liked that one better" -- but idk if they actually make each judge enter those scores? Would definitely help demystify the event to reveal those numbers.

 

Looks like we do get those scores, though its all relative to each other. But for example, this was Nicka vs Logistx r1:

 

People on Twitter are apparently saying these judges don't like flashy power moves so that is why Logiastx hasn't been scoring high despite doing some of the dopest moves.

yeah it still feels the scoring is super subjective. can see in the screenshot I posted there are pretty huge swings in all the categories.

The difference in the quality of commentary between the skating and the breaking is massive.

The commentary in the “younger” sports has been awesome. Tim Warwood & Marc Churchill do a great job of providing info so that even my mum can understand it, while still being engaging.

The commentary for the breaking has absolutely no explanation. I don’t feel like I understand why something was particularly good or bad, and how it even really works.

 

That has been me 75% of this competition lol

 

I'm not watching, but reading the thread, my impression is that y'all are being pretty harsh for a highly subjective sport having it's first Olympics competition ever.

 

the second round should've gone to Kate for sure. 1st round was close. 3rd round I think 671 was the right call.
