This might be the year I give up on football. 25 years of following and every piece of hype and discourse around it depletes my energy now.

Although competitive spirit takes over with Fantasy League.

 

Even if you wanted to pull yourself back from everything and really try to just tune in on game days, we have pros coming out all the time saying that every game is being played at about a 70% pace/energy because of the fucked up over scheduling.

Although I must say, if I can find the energy to care when my team is likely to be involved in another relegation battle, surely you can find the energy to give Slot a chance? I took the job anyway because I wanted to do a journeyman save and what’s more journeyman than leaving my first job after 6 months! I forgot how fucking hard Bilbao games are. Ended up finishing 5th and was excited for the Europa League but got put in the CL and oh my god this squad is not ready for the CL. Signed 4 or 5 old lads just to have some kind of depth and very quickly realising there are fuck all Basque centre midfielders that are in any way creative.

Only tangentially related, but I really want to never touch Twitter again. However, it is still the best place for breaking news (particularly football), and is Threads even a thing?

I tried leaving Twitter earlier this year/ last year but apparently I'm a sadomasochist as I came crawling back. Literally nothing that can match it in terms of content and speed of news, and even reddit pages are literally just a list of twitter links.

I'm open all ears like you if there are any good alternatives though, as Elon is a fucking nazi.
