The melodies have been really lacking on the past few albums, that and the guitars. I liked the Shiny EP quite a bit, that was the last decent thing they did in my opinion. I know others hate that one.

 

Silvery Sometimes is probably my favourite song post Oceania

 

It's just Billy's voice that makes it tough for me to listen to the newer stuff. It feels so thin and I can't get over it.

 

Also (Seinfeld voice) "What's The Deal with Billy's strange fascination European old-timey/gothic titles?"

 

I really liked most of Shiny and enjoy a few tracks off ATUM and CYR but both albums are so bloated that I never return back to it.

I really hope Billy goes back to basics and delivers a quality 12 track record.

 

He hasn't done that since Adore unfortunately though Oceania is close.

 

Might be a hot take but I really like most of Zeitgeist and Monuments.

Machina is cool too and Machina II sounded even cooler - wish they would release that already..

 

Zeitgeist aged well. I hated it originally.

Impatiently waiting for Billy to put that back on streaming services, and to release the Machina I & II remaster already.

 

I would throw stupid money at a proper pressing of those three records.

 

I thought Zeitgeist was decent when it came out but I revisited it a couple years ago and really disliked it. Desperately needs a remix/remaster

 

Yeah that's odd that the album isn't on streaming considering they play songs from it live now. I was meh on it when I came out and....am still on meh on it haha. Good call on the Machina I/II remaster.

 

Listening now and his voice was the first thing I questioned myself about. It's kinda like he lost his pizazz. The music is damn good though! Holy riffs!

 

I've listened to AMM more in the last 7 days than I've listened to Autum in the last 2 years. I wish they would capitalize on the positive reaction to the album and actually play one of the songs on their current tour. Or even try pushing a single.

 

I've only heard the first four songs from this and it's already the most I've enjoyed a Pumpkins album since Zeitgeist. That fourth track is amazing.

 

This album is actually pretty great. Pleasantly surprised.

 

I agree with all of the above. however, the vocals and melodies overall grew on me after repeated listens. But I agree, that's the weakest part about this album. Still really enjoy it though!

 

The puncturing vocal mix is a contributing factor but the vocal on Pentecost is really quite jarring.

 

Got a free ticket to tonight’s show. Will be my first time seeing them/Green Day

I got a 3 hour coach ride back from London to my hometown on Sunday night so I am use that opportunity to listen to ATUM in it's entirely!!

I think it's a shame James is basically just a hired gun at this point, his contributions to 90s Pumpkins are great and a big part of their sound. lowkey "The Boy" might be a top 10 song
