Rose Lavelle on the ground is so clearly the US's best option to spark attack against Japan right now. The most creative player out there by a mile. Otherwise, would like to see a few more balls over the top down the flanks, because I think Trinity, Mal, and Smith are winning that ball 8/10 times against Japan with their speed and physicality.

Horan has looked downright bad once again. Her first touch has been nonexistent

I know she’s not the Alex Morgan of old, but this type of game is exactly why you bring her (especially with some others bench riding thus far the whole time). She’s tall, a target, and has so much experience playing against a low block.

I’m a firm believer that certain nations shouldn’t be allowed to ref for other certain nations. Sweden is at the top of the list for the USWNT and this ref is not helping that prejudice.

These Colombian women are defending for their lives and it’s so admirable I hope they pull it off. Hard not to believe Spain can’t pull it off, though. The quality disparity is just ridiculous. Hard to believe they even were down 2-0 at one point.

 

Knew Spain was winning it once they equalized. Wish I could have watched it closer. Just had it on the tv in the background.
