I'll second this one. I am not done with the season, but I have really liked the 4 or 5 episodes I've seen so far. Some great jokes / one liners. I think it's lame and just dates poorly when writers go for the easy punch (make fun of bands / other shows etc) so those jokes were meh, but I think it's a very quotable and overall very funny show so far.

    I agree with all this.

I enjoyed this season and there were some extremely hard to watch moments. The boys will make me wince but I'm kind of immune / desensitized to the kind of gore they have and it's more like 'oh.. ewww' whereas in Invincible, there were truly some tough moments with what some of the characters went through. I'll spoiler but big brain guy breaking Mark's mom's arm and his brother crying etc was gut wrenching and had my heart pounding about what was going to happen
It also did such a good job of juggling and reintroducing all the plot points that season 1 dropped out there. Can't wait for more. The episode where they kept cutting from Mark and Amber was hilarious as well.

  7. Oh also Vox Machina, don't think I've mentioned that in here. Saw it a while ago and really liked it

  8. Oh, I thought Dragon Prince was this long ass show but the seasons are only like nine episodes. I saw a clip on tiktok of Claudia after resurrecting her father that got me interested in checking it out.

  9. so yeah, the first season of The Dragon Prince was really good!

I think I've said it in here before (or maybe it was the Netflix thread, I dunno), but you should know ahead of time that the second half of the series is almost entirely a new arc and sometimes feels like an older version of the show you were watching for seasons 1-3. It feels to me like 1-3 is Avatar: The Last Airbender whereas seasons 4-6 (and the yet to come final season) are Avatar: The Legend of Korra. Season 4 is generally regarded as possibly the worst season of the show. I remember being so excited for the show to be back and for a new story to begin...and then being almost immediately let down by the writing because something about that particular season just felt off. Maybe it was just that they were trying to establish some new world building for the next story arc and the weight of that burden brought it down, but yeah you'll find some fairly mixed feelings about season 4 if you look around. It bounces back after that though and gets considerably darker as it goes along. Got to the point where my son didn't want to watch anymore because he was getting too scared so my wife and I have to wait until the kids are in bed now to watch lol.

  11. yeah after the clips i saw from s6 i went in kinda expecting it to get darker haha, but thanks for the heads up!

  12. I finished the first three seasons of The Dragon Prince, it's really, really good!

Supposedly it gets considerably darker after this. I think I have the advantage of jumping onto the bandwagon late and therefore knowing what to expect. And, y'know, also being able to marathon multiple seasons at a time.

Think I want to take a break from this for a bit, though. Maybe check out Castlevania.

  14. The first season of Castlevania is only four episodes and very heavy on exposition. It's pretty good, but I'm sure it'll be much better once the plot gets going.

If you've spent any time at all in the video games thread you'd know I love metroidvanias. The irony there is I've never played an actual Metroid or Castlevania game. I have played Bloodstained, which apparently draws heavily from the Castlevania series, as well as Dead Cells, which had dlc of Dracula's castle and skins of some of the heroes. Richter and Maria aren't in this show, though; they're in the spinoff that takes place hundreds of years later. So while I may be acquainted with certain aspects of the games, I'm going into the show relatively blind. It's been interesting to see this part of the story play out.

Is that weekly? I'd have to resub to Prime if I wanted to follow it; I was thinking of just binging it later once it was done (and once Rings of Power was back)

I almost forgot there's new Suicide Squad Isekai and Kite Man today.

  15. I hadn’t even heard of the new Batman series until today so I don’t know much about it other than it’s supposed to be in the same vein as the 90s series.

He was the one that created the 90s series and the rest of the DC animated shows of that era. But he’s also had his hands in most DC animated projects in some way to this day. He’s basically just that guy. Lol

  20. ahhh, ok. interesting. i'll probably check the show out soon and see how it holds up in comparison to the 90s one.

I mean, if they did the s1-3 style I’d be down. S4 isn’t all bad or anything, but the earlier style was much better.

You're not wrong. I wasn't totally down with some of the redesigns like Mad Hatter or Mr. Freeze. They seemed too simplified, or in Scarecrow's case, too extra.

The stories still rocked though. I love Clayface and was so upset he "died" in Mudslide, so his return had me so excited as a kid and it was such a good story too.

The nitpick in me though hated that they didn't bother explaining how he survived beyond "random chemicals".
