Guys, I had not picked up this game for over a year. After beating it, completing all the shrines, illuminating all of the depths. So I popped the game back in yesterday just to walk around, collect some koroks, do some side quests, when I realize today that I have only 133 shrines and some of my depths map is incomplete!!! How is it possible that my file reset to an old save?! I am mortified!!!

Edit: omg, I might have found a reddit thread about this. Maybe I never updated to a different version?!? Did this happen to anyone else? Sooooo much hard work just gone!!! I can't go through this all again. Haha.

I tried everything. I tried downloading backup data from the cloud, checking for corrupt data, calling nintendo customer service, and taking out the cartridge then blowing on it before putting it back in.

Maybe if I'd noticed right away yesterday, but I just went straight to doing minor side quests without looking closely at my stuff. So now my old file is overwritten. Damn... I think the last thing I did was collect all the armor sets and I remember that taking forever. I wonder what percentage I was at. Maybe it's best I don't know. I guess it's good I'm at least not at zero.

That sounds like a nightmare to me. Losing all that progress…

I just finished playing through both Oracle games. I played Seasons when it came out but never Ages. It was fun revisiting Seasons as I’d forgotten almost all of it. Playing Aged was a good time, too, and I got to finally play the real ending by playing a linked game.

Would love to see a few of the dungeon items make a return some day. The magnet glove and the switch hook could be cool.

I gotta say, I HATED the few dancing quests. The Seasons one wasn’t too bad, but the Ages ones were awful. Thankfully you can rewind on NSO, otherwise it would have been rage inducing. And having the swimming controls change after getting the mermaid suit was an odd choice and really annoying in a couple spots. The changed controls don’t fit as well with a joystick as a d-pad would.

Overall, they’re both enjoyable games that people should check out if they never played them. They definitely scratch that 2D Zelda itch.

I played Windwaker on the Wii U back in 2016 and enjoyed it alot. I no longer have the Wii U or the game so hopefully we get it on the Switch 2 at some point...

I just wish the thumb sticks on my Odin 2 weren't so sensitive, being precise just swinging from the ropes on the ship tutorial was a bit tricky. I gotta buy some thicker thumb sticks from Etsy and screw around with the sensitivity settings. Luckily the thumb sticks just pop right off without taking anything apart.

I'm telling you guys, this thing is an emulation beast and if you only care about retro systems and not PC games, it's the way to go bc the battery lasts like 8-10 hours. Only thing it's missing is CEMU, PlayStation 3, 4, 5 and any Xbox emulation. I have every version of smash bros and Mario kart on this thing up through the Switch, running at full speed on 1080p docked mode. TOTK is unplayable but BOTW runs great. Pokemon Legends Arceus runs better than the Switch itself.

Since I picked up the game after my file was messed up, I finished the shrines and lightroots again. But this time there were a few things I never did before in the game that I really enjoyed.

    1. I had no idea you could stop the storms on those sky islands. I got the last shrine on that part of the map the hard way the first time.

    2. I learned the cool ground technique from the Yiga!

    3. I discovered that Link can wear the Hylian hood down which is so much better and what I always wanted.

Plus other little stuff along the way.

The best OoT-style Zelda (as opposed to BotW-styel)

Yeah I can see that, I think it’s too frustrating at points but it is also so weird in a good way

Twilight Princess is the best of the OOT type Zelda.

Every Zelda game is too hard for me other than BOTW and TOTK haha. Never been able to beat any of them. I'm literally struggling to figure out what to do in Windwaker just to get my sword and save my sister at the beginning of the game

beating Link's Awakening on the original Gameboy in the early 90's without a guide was a trip, no idea how we managed that

Woohoo I actually got past something in a non-botw Zelda without reading a guide lmao. This thread made me want to try it again.
