after a train heist gone wrong, a group of outlaws find themselves in a brothel, but little do they know that it's run by a coven of witches! The first half of the movie is a bit of a slog, just full-on western genre, mostly exposition. Once it gets to the halfway point, though, shit hits the fan, and it starts to get pretty fun! Lots of cool sets, special effects, makeup, stunt work. Unfortunately, despite the film's best efforts, it was never able to get me to care about the male protagonists; I was much more invested in the witches' coven. The story's not great, but it's an interesting genre mash-up and I had a good time with the second half.

  4. I need to stop trying to watch The Last Voyage of the Demeter when I'm tired but it's legitimately so cozy. Hoping to finish that and rewatch the first two Horror in the High Deserts tonight so I can watch the new one tomorrow

I’m in awe of Stephen Graham Jones’s ability to weave a bazillion slasher references into The Indian Lake Trilogy. And i’m not even onto book 3 yet. This stuff is like candy for folks like me

the third book reframes all the referencing in a way I found absolutely heartbreaking. his character work is so damn good

I am nervous but also excited for what’s to come. I’ve got less than 100 pages left in Don’t Fear the Reaper

The film is going to be remembered more fondly in the future than it is now. Such a cool movie with great designs.

Last night was Chest on Tubi, then The Devil Below on Amazon, and I started The Breach before bed because it's based off a Nick Cutter book and I liked the one I've read from him.

I guess I coulda been posting this in the sci-fi thread lol but I'm still watching X-Files. the conventional wisdom is to just stop when Mulder leaves but I actually highly recommend s8. Robert Patrick is as good a replacement as you could ask for and it's probably the most horroriffic season since the first few, some genuinely gruesome shit in those episodes

...man s9 is absolutely wretched though. just a show limping to the end with everybody clearly checked out. even Gillian looks bored as shit and she's one of my favourite actors
