lol, we also have about $1k in store credit from a store out of Texas that he sold some old MTG and Lorcana cards to. right now we've got a couple options in mind. i know he primarily wants to run either a Jabba red or yellow deck (i don't remember the base color, but i think it might lean more control mechanically). i'm toying with a Fennec Shand red aggro deck, but need some Poe cards to make it effective. we're also weighing a few different decks with set 2 Han Solo, Rey, and Sabine Wren as leaders.

for those who've read The High Republic books, i'm looking for advice on which ones to acquire. i have $120 in Barnes and Noble giftcards and would like to pick a couple up - at least from Phase I for now. i've been looking at the Youtini High Republic reader's guide to inform my preferred reading order. their advice suggests that the easiest, bare bones way to get into it is to stick with the adult novels, young adult novels, and audio dramas (& their scripts) for each Phase (with junior readers, comics, and short stories being supplemental). has anyone else tried this method or just stuck with the adult novels?

So for Phase I, I’d suggest all of the adult novels and the first two young adult novels (Into the Dark and Out of the Shadows). I’d also say the Marvel Comics are essential as well for filling in gaps and following main characters (the Omnibus is on sale for $50 on Amazon last I saw). If you’re interested in Vernestra, the middle grade books A Test of Courage and Mission to Disaster are also good and follow her, but aren’t required. The other two books (Race to Crashpoint Tower and Midnight Horizon) rely heavily on the High Republic Adventures comics, which are very fun, but not critical to the overall narrative so if you’re not diving into those comics it’s not really worth it. The last Phase I things are pretty skippable, but are all solid (Tempest Runner audio drama, Starlight Stories, Monster at Temple Peak).

Phase II is much simpler in just read the Adult, Young Adult, and audio drama and you’re good.

I don't believe anything is actually coming out until I see a trailer or something. Just too many announcements that have fizzled to nothing over the years

I saw a burlesque parody of Star Wars last night and I'll never see Jabba the Hutt the same way ever again

Got the chance to meet Sam Witwer today and get some Pops signed. Very cool to talk to and hear how much he loves Star Wars.

He doesn’t just love Star Wars, the dude knows Star Wars. Lol

But that’s so sick! Probably one of the people I’d most want to have a conversation with.

Correct, Sam voices Maul among various others Star Wars characters. He’s also Starkiller in The Force Unleashed games

It was at a Con so didn’t have a ton of time but I did tell him how cool it was that such a big fan gets to be such a big contributor. He did tell a story to the guys in front of me (who definitely thought he was Phantom Menace Maul at first) that he randomly met Ray Park (creepy Maul) on the opening night of Phantom Menace at a random suburban theater in Chicago. Him and his friends saw it on Thursday as part of previews and then went again on Friday and Park was there seeing it too and had a small group around him getting things signed. The funny thing was that it was only a few people talking to him as most hadn’t seen the movie yet and didn’t realize this guy was Maul. Only people who had already seen it or knew from merch were actually stopping to say hi and now 25 years later he’s the voice of that character.
