As a frequent Twitter user in his early 30s I’m starting to realize how absolutely fucking stupid I am for using my real name and attaching my face to so much of my online presence it’s a minor miracle my workplaces or family members haven’t been harassed

 

I often forget it’s not 2005 and a public forum is never a tiny little corner of the web no one except the intended punk/progressive/sports in-group will visit. I try to curb my instincts to volunteer too much as I remember.

 

this is one of the last smaller niche communities around lol as far as I know anyway I’m sure there’s some but not as many as there were 20 years ago

Yeah going with the Type 1 example, my mom's been living with it for 60 years. It's not a terminal disease, but you need insulin/drugs for the rest of your life. There's just far too much money going into the pockets of the insurance companies, they'll never allow it. They've probably made mid-to-high six figures on just her alone throughout her life.
