I wonder how much the rise of the internet and specifically poll tracking stuff has lead to a proliferation of junk polls

Pretty easy for anyone to run a poll, share it on twitter, get reach that way. Even if the fundamentals behind the poll are wack toplines = headlines which means they'll get shared

Whereas previously, you'd hopefully have journalists vetting polls for stuff like this before reporting on them
