The rap was good actually.

 

After reading about the beats in this one and watching the trailer a few times, I really don't see the point of this movie. Did Ridley Scott really say, "Well what if this time I flip it and have a former patrician fighting a general who enslaved him" and send it?

 

The point is always money.

 

hell yeah let's call a ridley scott film pointless 4 months before it comes out

 

I know, I'm just hoping for something more than that. The first film is very important to me so I'm pretty invested.

I love Ridley Scott and his films so I'm not saying any of this lightly. I don't mean to offend.

 

just seems very strange to me to say that a movie from someone like Ridley Scott is pointless when he has put in the work to do whatever he wants

especially when the movie is 4 months away and we've seen one trailer! slow down!

 

Alright, I'll reserve any judgement until I see it.

 

And the trailer was also pretty shit imo. Idk how anyone could have nearly enough info to be worried yet.

And I don’t have the problems with the trailer that the internet is crying about. Idc about accents or music choices. I just thought the trailer itself was shit and that has nothing to do with the actual footage from the movie. I still think it’ll be good.

 

The trailer is about what I expect from modern blockbuster trailers but the footage itself looks so sick. Ridley is genuinely passionate about Gladiator and made sure he was the one to do the sequel this late in the game. He could make literally ANYTHING - and he chose a gladiator sequel so if he’s excited to make it - I’m excited to see it.

 

All films are pointless. They should just stop making them completely.

 

At some level it is going back to the well since so many of his recent films have not done well, but he has been trying to get this made for a long time so there could be something really good.

It is going to be hard to top the slimy evil of Phoenix's character from the original.

I could have sworn he was in more than just that one. I might be thinking of all the times he worked with Tony. The point I was making is Denzel loves the Scott brothers. Makes no sense why there were trailer reactions from people being like “why is he in this”

 

Oh I took that like YOU thought it was weird he was in a Ridley Scott movie

 

This was so much better
