I’m trying to find the tweets but basically people in the crowd identified a couple of journalists in the press area who they claim they saw laughing at Trump after

Trump Jr saying that makes me so worried for America. Stoking the hatred and division after that is mindless, and the Trump family prove once again they want instability and violence.

 

Maybe I just don’t understand American politics (likely), but unless Biden steps down, Trump was always very likely going to win, surely? If he can win when people don’t expect him to, he can definitely win when people do. He’s been the betting favourite for a decent while now (of course, pinch of salt etc), and the gap has only been widening from what I’ve seen.

So much insane misinformation out there right now as to be expected. Some 4chan troll decided to make himself internet famous and claim to be Thomas Crooks by posting a video telling everyone they got the wrong guy, and now right wingers have taken it at face value, insisting that the shooter is some other guy they’ve labeled as Antifa. Meanwhile, Crooks’ voting registration history as a Republican has been posted and they’re of course insisting that he only registered to fuck with the primaries so he’s not a “real” Republican. Then they’re claiming he donated to ActBlue three years ago, but that donation would have been made when he was 17 and, right there in the site’s contribution rules:



Others have pointed out that there is another Thomas Crooks living in the same area who is in his 60s and is a registered Democrat. That’s the Thomas Crooks who made a donation to ActBlue.

Everything is so fucked and media literacy is in the toilet. These are the same people who raised me not to respond to dangerous chain mail in the late 90s lol.

 

AP and NYT are both saying the shooter made the donation, as well.
