I am not from the US or living there, but why is the whole discourse about Biden's age and fitness in regards to a second term only starting now? Like, the Dems had 4 years to build up a serious, younger candidate... (so did the Reps, but they're a cult).

It’s because ultimately the Democrats are a party full of people who refuse to work together towards a goal of winning and just hopes people vote for them because the other side is worse.

It isn't technically starting now. People have voiced concerns since he was elected, only during the debate it became real for a lot of people.

I think a lot of people in the public had the assumption Biden was going to be a one term president and pass the baton. When he announced he was running for a 2nd term I think it was a red flag for some, but everyone else kind of fell in line.

Really this is all blowing up now as opposed to a year ago is because Biden lost the faith of the donor class and in turn the media establishment. Basically anyone who spoke up about this in 2023 was gaslit. Now it's taken seriously. It's weird.

Biden back in early 2022 should've made it clear that he intends to fully finish his current term and them step aside and let someone younger take over, and that while he has full confidence in Kamala's ability to lead the country he will refrain from endorsing and instead let the party decide their next nominee.

He didn't and now we're going to be stuck with another 4 years of Trump, and who knows if we'll even survive that
