So I got a little lost on all the execs talking. Enjoyed Maddon's speech. Got a little laugh when Theo mentioned his bender hes resuming.

But damn it, Rizzo got me when he was introducing Ross. Rizzo is my absolute favorite. That whole kicking cancer's ass and still being able to achieve his dreams just makes my heart happy. And ya know, he's pretty good at baseball too.

    Were you there, @cubsml34 ?

Nah, was debating going but I just decided to watch from home instead when I saw early this morning how mobbed it was.

I had dialysis today so there was no way I was going to make it. I went to the first Hawks rally back in 2010 and it was a NIGHTMARE and that was the smallest rally that's happened in the last 6 years. We took the Metra in from Aurora and it only stopped once because it was so jam packed. (But free, because no way they could get down the aisle to ticket anyone) There was a local shuttle bus company that took two busses up for $40 per person. They provided beer/snacks. That would have been ideal if I was able to go!

Honest question, cause I have no idea as I don't pay a ton of attention to the NL: is Miguel Montero good enough to be whining about not playing enough in the WS?

No way to justify his whining. Your team just won a historic championship that made millions of people happy, but you're gonna feel sorry for yourself because of playing time or whatever it is? He seems like a loser regardless if he's any good or not.

I mean, eleven year veteran and two-time all star (as he had to point out in his defense lol) and he's a member of THIS team, and he had some big hits that will be remembered. He has the rbi that was the margin in game 7! Like seriously ugh.

Also hit a grand slam in NLCS game 1, and caught the final two outs in the WS. He definitely contributed.

This just further makes me hope the Yankees keep McCann. Sanchez is here two months, steals the job of a guy much more established than Montero, and is just like "hey I get it, he's awesome" and doesn't want to be traded lol. And his offense should benefit from primarily dh-ing next year.

If McCann had the exact same postseason Montero just did, he'd be the happiest guy on the planet.

Anyways, great world series. I'm still in baseball mode cause Odell Beckham has kind of turned me off of the Giants this season lol.

Definitely not. I love Miggy since he's one of our only hitters that even thinks about hitting opposite field and had those clutch hits, but he's awful compared to Contreras or Ross defensively, he has no arm. I guess it's also known Arietta prefers him as his catcher, but Maddon went with Contreras for him after the NLDS. Kinda sours my opinion of him tbh but my avatar is also based on Fowler's reaction to the grand slam so I'll leave it for now lol

Haha I imagine still too much of a high for Cubs fans for this to legitimately bother anybody.

Respect though for opposite field hitting after watching too many years of "let's get lefty power hitters that will do nothing but aim at the short right field porch in Yankee Stadium" haha.

Montero being upset about the lack of communication about his role for the playoffs seems fair imo. I'd want to know my role as well, it helps with preparing.

Though he definitely didn't deserve more playing time.

Yeah I get being miffed by lack of communication. And I know part of this stems from him being behind the plate during the reg season often. But his voicing of frustration now of all times seems in poor taste. He has one more year on his deal, wonder how that plays out.

Feel so much healthier now that the Indians postseason run is over. No more eating like garbage and drinking til 1 a.m. three to four nights a week and feeling like absolute trash the next day at work.

Free agency starts tomorrow with me hoping Cashman sticks to what he says and doesn't sign any of these 30+ year old dh types.
