One of the great things about late 70's-80's movies is the villain is usually an old white rich conservative man. It isn't exactly a leftist film (Dangerfield and Chase play rich good guys), but it is at least something.

I am really happy with how many older films are being screened since they were desperate to fill screens during the pandemic. They aren't always winners but it is a nice comfort.

I’ve only caught bits of it. Tried to go backwards (I did see the original tweet about the movie) and it’s like it jumped from A to Z out of nowhere

Unhinged person being unhinged and not being self aware to realize that they’re an asshole pretty much. Apparently goes back a few days and she’s tweeting about it nonstop.

 

People need to ditch twitter

I've only used Twitter to follow musicians, and even then I hardly check it

 

I can't really complain because I post tweets all the time, but trying to read a thread on this forum at work is just a bunch of tweets that won't load and then a comment that makes no sense without context.

 

I quit Twitter in 2009 and never looked back

 

I pretty much only use twitter for entertainment news, so I never really see this stuff. Most of the time I learn about stuff like that it’s from someone sharing it on here. Lol

 

For some reason Twitter just wasn't popular where I grew up. Everyone had a Facebook, but I didn't know anyone from school with a Twitter account, so I never really used mine.

 

Twitter is the worst now. I get on there for a couple of minutes and I’m like “Okay, this is fine.” But then you get bombarded with idiots making threads of “Five times Taylor Swift was problematic.” Movie clips with no movie identified so they get engagement. Several scorching hot takes from, like, FranziaMom, where they’re like “‘The Bear’ is bad” or actually, “Charli XCX’s ‘brat’ isn’t as good as people say.” Then a bunch of posts where edgelords are dropping r and f-slurs.

I’m on for a few minutes and I delete it off my phone. It’s only good use is for the Absurdist thread.

 

Sorry for your loss. Caddyshack was the first rated R movie my dad let me watch. I remember my mom being pissed afterwards because it had nudity, which my dad forgot about.

Side note I remember a friend insisting to me that the gopher in caddyshack looked more realistic than the shark in Jaws and I just don’t know what version of Jaws they watched.

 

I deleted twitter maybe a year ago now, but these forums make it feel like I only half deleted it. I still unfortunately know a decent amount of what’s trending on there because of the politics thread and the absurdist twitter thread. The absurdist thread is worth it though.

 

feel like twitter is a millennial app and this is a millennial website. Hard to find many Facebook or tik tok posts here!
