I loved my Windows Phones. If they had better app support, there's a strong chance I'd still be using one.

 

Also I can't listen to Charli XCX without my mind immediately jumping to Unknown P

 

Same. I had the HTC M8 for a year and absolutely loved it. It felt truly different from Android and iOS and was fun to use. But after a year of having subpar app support, I couldn't justify sticking with it.

 

I’ve had an itch to pick up an evergreen Finewoven case and give it a proper go. Is the consensus still that those are awful? I think there were a few people here who liked those cases.

I’ve been using a Bare leather case which has aged beautifully, so I don’t really have any incentive to switch other than just trying something different.

I ended up getting a finewoven case in black and think I’m actually digging it.

 

Where’d you get it? Did they pull them from Apple already?

 

Best Buy. There was a report that they were pulling them a while back, but I don’t think that was true tbh. They seem available without issue from Apple.

 

I know *why* they don’t, but I wish the AirPods volume went higher than it does lol

 

This weekend away proved to me why the iPad is just so bad for pretty much anything but content consumption. Trying to do any sort of windowing on it is such a disaster - granted, part of this is on developers to actually support Stage Manager but that’s also damning that some never cared to - and it’s just clumsy at so much.

I can’t see myself buying another without it running a serious OS - which iPadOS can be but currently isn’t - and traveling with my MacBook Air going forward.

 

When I stopped worrying and embraced that it’s a read and watch and occasionally write device, I started loving it again.

 

I could get into that, just buy the cheapest model possible.

 

When the iPad Air eventually gets an OLED screen, I’ll look at getting one then. Either that, or a cheaper Vision headset, whichever comes first. Once I get the headset, my iPad days are likely over.

 

Another thing related to that mini rant about the iPad - why didn't they bring window snapping to iPadOS? It would have made Stage Manager so much more useful.

 

Beta 3 is out.

 

I'm thinking of jumping into the beta on my iPhone. It's my daily driver and I usually wait for the 2nd public beta, but I jumped in on the Mac OS beta and it's been great. Have you had any big issues or do you think it's fairly safe to make the jump?

 

I still have some of the same issues from beta 1. iCloud inbox messages just disappear randomly, some errant notifications badges on some apps.

 

It’s been a few days and I love the Finewoven case so much haha. I didn’t like it when I first got one in September but I never actually tried it on the phone before returning it. I got a Finewoven wallet too.

 

I have the wallet. It bothers me how easily the cards slide out while dropping it in my pocket. Also starting to look like garbage.

 

What color do you have? I have a black case and wallet (which is more like a dark gray) and I definitely think that’s going to ultimately look better than the other colors after wear and tear.
