Oh yeah I'm sure it's terrible, but no, not a bit. Genuinely surprised I never heard of it

In your defense I don’t think it made much money at the box office, pretty sure it was when hbo max was putting movies on streaming the same day as when they’d be in theaters due to Covid concerns

Good lord. At least sign up for that theater’s reward system and maybe skip out on the convenience fee. Or wait for $5 Tuesdays.

Why do 3D movies even still exist? Just let it go and only bring it back for Avatar movies every 15 years.

I like 3-D when it’s movies made for 3-D. But they ran that into the ground with all the 3-D movie made in post.

That said, re-release just the Twin Tower walk from “The Walk.” That ruled even when the movie didn’t.

I don’t think 22 episodes of HOTD would be good, but I do think most shows could do with some longer seasons.

My crackpot theory is a lot of networks saw the backlash AMC got when Walking Dead was at the height of its popularity but getting raked over the coals for the filler/bottle episodes that people are calling boring and thought the future was getting rid of those types of episodes from shows

I think it’s to keep production costs down, mostly. If something’s as popular as the Walking Dead was I don’t think studios care quite as much about critical/cultural reception

I think it is the issue of budgets and changing income revenues sources now. With the pivot to streaming the main goal of shows now is to draw in and retain subscriber bases instead of pulling ratings per episode. If they spend $100 mil on 8-10 episodes of a big extravagant series that fulfills their subscriber quota for that quarter, why spend $100 mil more for 10 more episodes when you can fill the rest of the quarter with a lower budgeted series that isn't as big of financial risk ?

They're mentality now is quarter to quarter gains, and I think that shows in their programming strategy.

  20. Every show should be 1 season and 10 episodes.

Make a tight show with a solid ending. Avoids shit getting cancelled mid-series like every other show these days.

Every show should be one episode and about 1.5-2.5 hours long.

  23. I think Supernatural was the last 24-episode-season show I followed week to week, but even before then I was waiting for seasons of Arrowverse shows to hit Netflix so II could marathon them. I guess even back with stuff like Sopranos and The Wire, when things are sub-based rather than supported by commercial breaks the seasons were half as long. I think nowadays 8-episode seasons feel a little rushed tho, and it's also frustrating when shows with good queer/poc rep seem to get canceled before I even get to them. there are too many things coming out, and word of mouth can only get you so far. what's weird is on tiktok, aside from Shameless, the only tv clips I see often are from stuff like Grey's Anatomy, 9-1-1, Law and Order, and The Rookie. I guess unless you're Abbott Elementary or something the only popular/successful network shows are episodic procedurals. tv used to be about long-form storytelling, now a season of Stranger Things takes forever to make and the last one will be apparently like watching eight movies.

idk what my point is. this post is a jumbled up mess. i feel like an old person yelling at a cloud.

22 episodes is way too long for any show that isn’t a half hour but i do think some of these “””prestige””” shows could stand to be 13 episodes

It depends on the show, but is often very noticeable when a show gets a truncated season after the showrunners and writers got used to a longer schedule.

I don't think they do it as much anymore, but the "final season" being cut into two pieces was always a bad experience. You bring the expectations and natural closure that should come with a final season only to have to pull back for the real final batch of episodes.
