Anyone have a quick dimension of those “push back” things for the kallax? Like the wood pieces you put in so the records all align flat on the front? Looking for the deeper option but going to create them myself. Sorry if this is available on their website, I just don’t remember the name.

 

I’ll let you know tomorrow. I have a backspacer I can measure. The measurements aren’t available on the website (Turntable Revival) or I would have made them myself too. Haha.

 

I didn’t know those were a thing. I’ve been using cut up pool noodles for years

 

i'd measure mine (they're the skinny version and they're an inch shorter in thickness), but they're affixed to my shelves.

 

I have these: Premium Backspacer (for IKEA Kallax/Expedit) in “The Standard” size.

The measurements are 13 3/16” x 2 13/16”. However, the Kallax cube sizes aren’t perfect so you might need to shave off a centimeter or two when fitting.

For what it's worth, those Turntable Revival backspacers are nice and high quality and cut perfectly, but I've yet to find a suitable sticking method. The pads they come with broke free on most of mine, just by pulling records and putting them back. A cube full of vinyl gets real heavy and pretty easily dislodges them with minimal force.

At some point, I might just stay screw it and glue them down. I'll never use the cubes for anything else anyway.

 

I bought a Target 2x2 and put my records in bins anyway (that could be pulled out and flipped through). And moved said bins downstairs because my room gets hot. So I have two empty cubes.

 

I've considered this, too (I also use the Target 2x2s.) What kind of bins did you go with?

Or do you mean you stopped using the shelves altogether and just keep them in bins?

 

i literally just had to temporarily fix one of my pads using tape. far from ideal, but it should be ok until i can find better adhesive.

If you have some spare treated wood laying around get your jigsaw / circular saw on the job with the same dimensions and wood glue them down (or even screw) and you’ve got them for free. That’s what I always do. Works like a charm.

Nice! I like that look and might try to transition my collection to that at some point here. Do you find each cube holds more, or less, or about the same with the bins?
