For the record, I recognize that most people don’t have the same weird proclivities I do. I’d venture to say skipping songs you don’t like on a record is the practice of like 90% of people who listen to music lol. Might even be more.

But I just couldn’t listen to music any other way. Best way I know how to put it: I enjoy listening to albums, not songs. The songs, for me, are only enjoyable insofar as they are a part of the album. And the specific songs were put on the album, in the specific order they were placed, by the artist to complete their vision. It’s also why I value cover art so much and won’t entertain swapping out the original cover art.

I find no pleasure in “fixing” the sequencing of an album. The sequencing is part of the art! As is the choice of songs and how many are on the album! (Though I admit this is becoming much less so with streaming and the financial incentive to overload records with songs to game the system. Drives me insane.)

And again, I understand that this all sounds fucking pretentious as hell. I’ve made peace with that. Because this is simply how my brain works and I chase that endorphin rush of listening to an album I truly love without compromise.

Same here but I’m 83 born so I hold the album listening experience as sacred. If I start listening to one, I’ll damn well finish.

Also, this record doesn’t have any bad songs.

Yeah there’s not a single person I know in real life that listens to albums front to back other than my mom and she only does that with Taylor Swift lol. I’ll always be an album guy though

Blink is better than Applebee's. Haha. I'm not one for removing songs, BUT I do/have skipped every one of their "joke" songs since Happy Holidays probably 90% of the time I listen

I just meant they’re self billed as a crappy punk rock band. I don’t personally feel the need to take them seriously enough where skipping a song or removing it was “messing with the integrity of the art” or whatever lol

I 1000% only listens to albums that don’t have multiple skips. Feels like an elder millennial habit that future generations have effortlessly abandoned with no consequence.

I hate when Spotify will serve me 3-4 killer songs on my weekly playlist and all 4 of the bands will have either only one EP from 2020 or 4 singles released over the last two years. I simply am unable to consider those bands real or likeable until they release an actual record and it’s good.

Sometimes I want to listen to a whole album. Sometimes I want to listen to a whole album but some songs are kinda duds so I smash that skip button. Sometimes I want to listen to just a song over and over again. Sometimes a playlist is just fine.

    I'm really crazy guys.

You can skip a song you don’t like or feel like listening to and I find it unbelievable to think people don’t do that.

I am an album person too, but if there’s a song I don’t care much for I’ll skip it sometimes. Especially if driving and my drive is coming to an end and there’s another song I want to hear more

at least once in every artist and album thread the debate over skipping songs or resequencing the songs based on your listening preferences comes up. it always boggles my mind to the core how much people choose to care how other people choose to consume media in their own personal time lol.

to quote the g̶r̶e̶a̶t̶ alright @spiffa0, some people like songs, some people don't like songs.

Absolutely agree. 3 days a week I have to arrive at my office car park with the absolute peak song for my mood playing, regardless of changing mid-song or mid-album.
