man I totally forgot Stephen King straight up wrote an X-Files episode lmao. it's more just good than great but the cred from that alone is absurd. can only imagine how insufferable I'd be if I acted in an episode King wrote

Just rewatched them both over the weekend to get ahead of the Wednesday showing of Maxxxine. It's a lot of fun going right from Pearl back into X. It's fun seeing West tackle these different sub-genres and styles with early 20th century bright "picktcha show" in Pearl and then 70's exploitation in X. Can't wait for the grimy 80's in Maxxxine. Side note here (and I never thought I'd say this) but the consistent homages and nods to TCM in X actually got to be a tad bit too much for this go-around. So many of those gigantic wide shots set against the horizon, which admittedly I love but still

I doubt they’d mess up on the marketing now and spoil something, but I’m skipping this trailer just in case. But here is the final trailer for anyone that does want to watch

Alien 3 is such a cool premise and had so much opportunity! The cgi gets so dreadful as it goes on and it definitely drags but it’s fun to think of what could have been if Fincher had been given more freedom and trust

I hear the directors cut gives far more insight into what that would’ve been like but haven’t seen it because i fucking hate that movie and I guess the little snobbishness I still hold to comes out there :crylaugh:

Alien 3 gang rise up, assembly cut rules

I'm just starting the horror celebrations early this year with all the good shit coming out this month. reading Angel of Indian Lake and finally watching Hell House Origins rn, it's pretty good!

Yeah I really liked the assembly cut of Alien 3. It still has some issues and janky cgi but there's a lot of cool stuff.

  25. Yeah, it's part of the Alien Anthology/Quadrilogy box set. It is indeed quite good. What I love about that franchise is that every movie has kind of a different tone to it. Alien is a sci-fi horror film, Aliens is an action-horror film, Alien 3 is a character drama of sorts, and Resurrection is a straight-up B-movie (same with AVP, but with better results). Then you get Prometheus returning slightly to the original's formula while delivering new mythology and Covenant blending the mythology of Prometheus with the first two films. They're not exactly consistent in quality, but even in regards to sequels, there's likely some kind of variation you'll enjoy.
