I have to assume that there are a lot of people around him that are 60 or 50 or 40 years younger than him telling him repeatedly that that line is not as good as he seems to think it is and he's just grabbing his phone like "nah fuck it, this line KILLS"

I actually watched some of this for first time since last night.

CNN giving Biden the layup on the abortion question (his strongest position) and him immediately pivoting to immigration (his weakest position) was an all time debate wiff. Like holy fuck.

 

Biden taking the debate stage last night was an all time debate whiff, and honestly an all time America as a democracy whiff

 

Watching the Hasan coverage of this and he brings a great point on the immigration issue: DHS's own reports say that undocumented immigrants are not any more likely to commit crime than citizens, and that the vast majority of Fent smuggled into the country comes from citizens at ports of entry. It's the best counter to Trump's immigration bullshit they have, but Biden administration and the mainstream media almost never bring those two facts up.

 

I am genuinely unsure of this, but my gut says that fact-checking or pointing out trump's lies in real time during the debate is not a successful strategy, and will make anyone but the most eloquent, consummate debater at the top of their game look disjointed and unsteady. I think a much better strategy is to almost ignore the fact that trump is in the room with you at all and just hammer home the points that you want to make.

if you want to score points against trump, I think it would be more effective to just point out objective facts about him that everyone knows and that are terrible, but don't engage with him and go back and forth with shit that he is saying in the moment

 

Gotta go print up some “morals of an alley-cat” shirts to sell at a Trump event.
