i've been trying my best to ignore this because i love them both and i think a majority of it is being played up by people trying to get engagement on social media posts but jesus christ. i saw the other day apparently they're accusing him of pedophilia???

Obviously what Dave said perhaps was a little out of line (and he knows how cray Swifties can be) but I do wish that Taylor had more of a hold on her fan base and how they react to things. Taylor did make that speech before Speak Now came out about not harassing people (aka John Mayer) but I wish she would take a stronger stance. These are real people with real emotions. You could say this isn’t Taylor’s problem because Dave got himself into this and Taylor probably wants to just ignore it since it’s negative about her but idk. It reminds me of when Taylor called out that Ginny & Georgia show and a bunch of Swifties were attacking/harassing the lead actress (who is a POC ) and Taylor never told them to stop or when All Too Well (10 Minute Version) came out and people were attacking/harassing not just Jake Gyllenhaal but also Maggie Gyllenhaal as well who has nothing to do with the situation.

 

it’s a slippery slope, like she didn’t ask Dave to take a shot at her (even though it seemed like a joke considering Pat Smear was at one of the TS shows over there). However, she’s never been one to tell her stans to stand down. Really respect Charli for immediately telling her fans to cut the shit with the Taylor bad mouthing.

 

it was just a dumb snarky jab because Dave is a "rocker" and Taylor is a pop star, and old white dudes at a Foo Fighters show love that type of banter. I mean, didn't Dave even go to the Eras tour a few months ago? haha

 

Didn’t Swifties also bully his teenage daughter off of Twitter? If I was him, I’d be pretty annoyed too that her fans do that shit and she doesn’t say a word about it.

 

Yeah, she tweeted something along the lines of 'why cant she just drive like everyone else' in reference to her excessive plane trips.

 

Swifties and all other diehard social media stans are bad. Fandom in general is a mistake.

If you wanna criticize Foo Fighters, criticize them for spending years (quietly ending over a decade ago) promoting an organization that did AIDS denialism, not Dave Grohl doing corny dad rock jokes, lol.

 

There needs to be a higher-level conversation in the industry about stan culture and how vicious and toxic it is. The pop stars are mostly content to ignore it, but it has such huge ramifications on music journalists especially. I’d love a roundtable with multiple pop stars talking about this kind of behavior and how it actually makes them feel, especially the warring fanbases of it all. But that will never happen, because artists/labels don’t want to kill their cash cow. Taylor has actually been bolder than most, in releasing an album that basically calls these kind of people idiots.

Anyway, if these are the people who are buying TTPD 18 times, then maybe I should stop feeling bad for them. Take all their money!

 

Violet also tweeted when the whole Taylor AI deepfake porn thing happened being critical of it, I think she was just frustrated that it was getting so much attention because it was Taylor but for all the other unknown people it happened to they weren’t getting nearly any of the same attention or help so that in addition to the driving comments really set off the Swifties.

 

This is why I have mad respect for what Ariana posted on Instagram when her latest album dropped.

 

Genuine question because I don’t follow everything, but has Taylor ever spoke up about something that didn’t personally affect her?

 

This is great, and is something I think every major pop star should be doing. And while we can write it off and say “oh, the fans won’t listen anyway,” Taylor telling people not to harass John Mayer definitely created a very different “mood” to the Speak Now TV drop than there had been with Red TV.

I saw one the other day that was like “Foo Fighters owe Taylor because they are also playing their eras on tour!” Swifties truly believe she is the first person ever to play career-spanning setlists on tour.

I feel like Taylor has spent a large part of her career encouraging fans to lash out at those she has beef with so it's a weirder part of her fanbase than most. I feel like it wasn't as big of an issue back when they were just loser dudes like John Mayer and Jake G and her fanbase was like normalish sized. But now its a different stratosphere. But I feel like she crosses boundaries with her fans more than most, even if her intentions were not bad. Like she used to send fans these big care packages and who else has invited fans to their actual house? Some knew that her team was scouring social media to pick fans for those things and would be extra over the top about her to try and get picked. And at worst she would weaponize her fans to lash out at whoever she had issues with. Even tho she doesn't do those things as much anymore I feel like it still created this really weird dynamic in her fandom that gave her so many dedicated fans and also the deranged ones. It's so odd how "Taylor Swift fan" has become a main personality trait for some ppl

and then told me about Stevie being at a recent Taylor show, and Taylor played the song because she knew Stevie was there. That's prettty damn sweet
