I wonder what happens to me when my CVS eventually gets shut down and replaced by something dumb like Amazon haha. They already closed my minute clinic for good, which was the only urgent care covered by my insurance, and they only cover prescriptions from CVS. Can't even talk to a pharmacist over the phone anymore, CVS just sends you to a voicemail that never calls you back.

    Question for the married folks.

I recently got engaged. We've been together for a long time, but for the most part, have kept our finances pretty separate. Just curious about the different ways people went about merging things at first and how you found things work best moving forward? Did y'all just dump everything into one savings and checking account you both use and call it a day, do some like having a main account together as well putting a little into separate accounts for personal spending etc.?

We combined accounts about 2 years before we actually got married for the convenience. But we didn’t really have a lot of disposable income. Hope that helps.

We have one join checking account, one joint saving account and one personal account each that isn't joint. We dump all save for $150/check into the joint accounts and keep the $150/check into our personal for things like gifts we don't want them to see or "I feel like buying this thing but it's stupid and dumb" stuff lol.

And our loose rule is who cares what you buy up until ~$150-$200 and then from there it's a convo

Oh but now for the most part we just tell each other if we’re gonna buy anything for ourselves that costs more than like $50

We never bothered combining our finances, so we both have separate checking accounts and we just say “who’s paying for this” when we do purchases or whatever lol. Mostly she pays the mortgage and I pay pretty much all the other bills+do a lot of the grocery shopping and what not

My wife and I have had joint finances for a few years before getting engaged. I had her take over my finances when I was like 24 and we had been dating for a year or so. She’s an accountant, so she is great at budgeting and I was blowing money fast. Having her take over has made my life and finances infinitely better.
