For like the 18th time I fully grapple with and understand the implications of liking this band. I said that 2 pages ago, but you just want to pick and choose the parts that make you look better. My whole point is that you're not better than anyone else cause you can't separate the art from the artist. I have 0 problem with that.

 

I don't think he's trying to say he's better than anyone else, he's literally just encouraging some critical thinking in here

I feel like all of these posts about being better than anyone are more a reflection on you than me. I have been as objective as I can be. I think that monetarily supporting this bad is wrong. I am on the record as saying that calling someone a “better” or “worse” person is dumb. I have never said that. I am also on record as saying that I truly, absolutely, and definitively do not care what a person does on their own time. Listen to this record. Enjoy it. Let the music heal you or whatever. Talk to your friends about it. I cannot (and do not want to) stop you from doing that. At the same time, I’m going to call their loser frontman a rapist apologist piece of shit.

 

You know despite all the trolling and me genuinely finding you irritating I appreciate the level headed summary in that post. No sarcasm either. I think you come across as very aggressive and combative with the way you come into threads, and I do think you imply your own moral superiority, but credit where credit is due I suppose.

 

Catch me in the Man Overboard thread saying the same thing. And State Champs. And Transit. And The Wonder Years. I have not wavered from my stance, and I have never claimed to be “better” than anyone, or whatever corny shit you’re inferring from my posts. I think that we, as active consumers, should think critically about where we spend our money. And I do my best to call out places where I think there is injustice. Is there always going to be a “gotcha” if some loser is waiting in the wings? Absolutely. Am I going to dig my heels in like a petulant child and double down for a rapist? No shot!

 

My friend, do you have the 50 First Dates syndrome? We have had this exact back and forth like 200 times on the site. I do not usually remember usernames of the people I argue with, but we’ve been at it enough over this shit for me to recall. I am absolutely aggressive and obnoxious, and that is because when I am nice and polite I get ignored. You biting on my post caused this entire thing. It got me to say what i wanted without posting into the void. Thank you.

You said you are not bothering anyone, but then said you aim to make people feel uncomfortable.

You said people should just ignore you, but gave a condescending remark how 90% of the thread ignores you.

I really don't know what you want and what you expect us to do.

 

My goal is very, very clear. To acknowledge that Parker Cannon employs a rapist, to hold him to task for this, and to not monetarily support him.

 

This is a small group and we've heard this numerous times. Most neither support nor listen to No Pressure and we're not out checking to see if anyone has actually purchased the new TSSF album.

Are you wanting us to just stop talking about TSSF? That's what most of this thread is. Simply talking about the band.

 

My brother in christ you are "holding him to task" in a thread about the guy's music and acting like you're making a real difference. You could spend that time posting on actual social media, or doing literally any other tangible action to make a real difference in and outside of the scene

 

I’ve talked about what I’ve done outside the scene. That’s why I feel like changing at least one person’s mind in here about supporting the band matters.

 

And my initial post today was a joke and a signal boost for my message. I am not in here disrupting conversation on a daily basis. Would I have posted in here (and might I still) on the day the album drops? Absolutely, because I want people to see what I have to say in case they don’t know.

You’re not an anonymous twitter reply guy, lol. Why are you posting bad memes in relation to me talking about sexual assault and people supporting abusers?

 

And that's great, but the same argument will probably happen again, just like it has happened in the past...in a small thread where everyone already knows the situation and have already seen the argument(s).

The argument that is never actually about Parker, but is typically started because people feel like they're being targeted for liking a band.

Just don't take us ignoring your comment on release day as a sign that we're defending Parker. We're just tired of the same back-and-forth and want to enjoy new music after a week of work.

 

My advice would be to be more agitated at the person supporting the rapist than the person calling it out.

 

When you come in claiming someone is "defending" a rapist because they are just talking about a new song then that's just asking for people to get agitated. You can mention it without bringing that level of hostility.

Y'know, a "btw for anyone interested, Parker is in a band with a known rapist. Just keep that in mind if you're thinking about purchasing the new album"

 

But if we’re putting ourselves on a level playing field here, seeing eye to eye, do you not see how it would drive me mad to watch so many people ignore something that I feel is important? That sucks. It makes me feel bad. I think that’s a genuine emotion that I am allowed to have: to be upset that people acknowledge the wrongdoing and still vocally and monetarily support the artist as if nothing were wrong. I am not calling anyone “bad” or “worse”, I am just frustrated that the majority of people do not seem to care enough about something I find important.

 

You seem keen on saying people in this thread "defend a rapist" despite those people clarifying that they don't. If that's not calling somebody a shitty person, what is?

 

Some people are simply defending the person giving the rapist money and power and the platform to abuse again, my apologies.

 

I feel like some of you are treating this like I’m trolling a superhero movie or something. This isn’t a difference of taste. I’m not badgering people because they like a film I don’t. This is a real situation, with real survivors who have spoken out and been silenced by people, including the people who you are giving money to if you support this record.
