I didn’t even know Sturgill had a “5 albums only” thing until it was brought up here haha

I guess I didn't realize the full extent to which Zach Bryan had blown up - I keep seeing articles about him buying a multi-million dollar beachfront mansion in MA and I was surprised

He had an all-genre number 1 hit and is playing stadiums this summer. So, yeah, he's a big deal now!

I guess I don't have a good handle at all anymore on how much exposure in music these days translates to actual real world money, like I do for say Hollywood actors

His number 1 happened because he's a huge streaming artist, not really because of radio, which is usually a pretty good showcase of which artists are reaching far and wide and probably making some good money. That links into his huge sellout tours, too, which are probably where he's really raking in the cash.

I’ve been revisiting this Jill Barber album a lot lately that came out last year and wanted to share it bc I don’t think I’ve ever seen her mentioned here. Reminds me a lot of Lori McKenna and even John Prine lyrically at times.

I finally started listening to Wyatt Flores this past weekend and I'm convinced he's the next Zach Bryan/Tyler Childers type artist that will blow up

I enjoy Sturgill and would go to that tour but not at $80 before fees. Yeesh.

It's happening with more and more artists for me. I forgot which one I recently passed up on but it was far too much money for me and I'm generally one who doesn't scoff at this.

    Oh, it was Gambino.

I feel like we're now at the next phase of the post-pandemic tour pricing - smaller venues but higher prices because the large venues are no longer selling out at the higher prices but acts, management, and promoters still want to make as much as they would have otherwise.

The Luke Combs album is pretty nice. I did not see a concept album like that coming.

I feel similarly about him in general. Going to check out the new one, because I've heard good things. For the most part, though, I feel like he's pandered more and more to the country music establishment since that first album (so many songs about beer) and feel like all his songs sound more or less the same.

This new one is NOT that, every song is about fathers and/or sons, which sounds weird, but it’s good lol

That sounds promising. I generally like him best in reflective mode. I really loved "Doin' This" from one of his recent albums, bit then felt pretty lukewarm (pun intended) about the rest.

I checked it out because Spotify pushed it because I listened to Fast Car so much. Went through it twice at work and enjoyed it. Can see myself going back to it here and there.

I think I'd be more into this Luke Combs album if I had any kind of relationship with my dad...

The songwriting on that Carly Pearce album is so tight and so smart. A perfect example of a Nashville album done well.

The Carly Pearce album also proves that Chris Stapleton is the most valuable duet partner on the planet. I think I might like him better as a duets artist than on his own stuff.

I will again submit the following:

Chris Stapleton and Kelly Clarkson, but not Christmas this time. Maybe just re-do "Don't You Wanna Stay" so we can get Aldean off that perfect song.
