I was just listening to Britney's Blackout and it dawned on me that Reputation is kind of Blackout coded. If Taylor released Rep TV with a Piece of Me cover variant I'd buy a copy lol

And thanks to all the articles of Taylor not wanting others to get number 1s, I'm listening to Charli for the first time and Brat is a fun listen so far.

I do feel like eventually all the artists blocked from a number 1 by Taylor are going to have a "have you ever felt personally victimized by Regina George?" moment lol. Maybe they all do a we are the world collab together.

But honestly decades from now when people are discussing Taylor's legacy people prob won't really remember all the discounts and variants and think pieces. She's not gonna care. She is just concerned with building her legacy. When she receives the lifetime achievement awards and they read off the records she broke they're not gonna list off all the variants and discounts that made it happen. She just wants to be the biggest and she's getting her wish. But as with anyone super successful eventually there will be a popstar marketed as the anti-taylor that the youths will glomb onto. Just like all the anti-britney's and stuff of the day. I wonder who that'll be. Or if Olivia will plot twist and take that crown. They prob won't reach Taylor's heights but it'll be interesting to see how it influences music and pop culture

    Don't mind me I'm procrastinating and over-caffeinated

Joe Alwyn: ‘The end of a long relationship is a hard thing to navigate’

"The actor’s latest film, Kinds of Kindness, is winning rave reviews — but will he ever escape his role as Taylor Swift’s ex-boyfriend?"

“I would hope that anyone and everyone can empathise and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years. That is a hard thing to navigate. What is unusual and abnormal in this situation is that, one week later, it’s suddenly in the public domain and the outside world is able to weigh in.”

Stern, eyes fixed on mine, he continues: “So you have something very real suddenly thrown into a very unreal space: tabloids, social media, press, where it is then dissected, speculated on, pulled out of shape beyond recognition. And the truth is, to that last point, there is always going to be a gap between what is known and what is said. I have made my peace with that.”

“As everyone knows, we together — both of us, mutually — decided to keep the more private details of our relationship private. It was never something to commodify and I see no reason to change that now,” Alwyn adds firmly. “And, look, this is also a little over a year ago now and I feel fortunate to be in a really great place in my life, professionally and personally. I feel really good.”

Based in London and not tempted to move to Hollywood (he likes walking and thinks that driving everywhere “takes away some of the spontaneity of a day”), what does Alwyn’s happiest downtime look like when he’s not working? “It probably looks pretty similar to yours, or anyone’s — seeing friends, travelling, going to the pub,” he says, sounding uncomfortable. “Can I make a more boring list?” I joke that his chosen pub probably won’t be the Black Dog in Vauxhall, which Swift fans have deduced is the place name-checked in her new song, also called The Black Dog (“And so I watch as you walk/ Into some bar called The Black Dog/ And pierce new holes in my heart.”) Capitalising on this association, the pub has recently released merchandise: £50 hoodies, naff caps, tees and travel mugs. “I’ve never been to Vauxhall,” says Alwyn, smiling a smile that hints that there is more to say"

Late to the convo on why Taylor is considered so much bigger than someone like Morgan Wallen, who is arguably doing more consistent numbers, but I think the biggest point of all is being missed. We are comparing Taylor's ELEVENTH massively successful album (not even counting re-recordings) to ONE break out album. The fact that on album eleven she is still outdoing even herself in terms of sales numbers, let alone everyone else is wild.

Maybe it doesn't have as much staying power as some of her older albums, but that's also largely because her fans are also still listening to her other music on repeat. She's been churning out hits (singles AND albums) for nearly two decades. She has different types of fans who enjoy different eras more than others, some who are probably not quite as plugged in, but everyone still makes sure to listen to her new album when it comes out.

The mega success of the eras tour is that she brought all those people together by promising (and delivering) something for all of them.

All true, EXCEPT: the Wallen album in question is not his breakout album. He has two of the five biggest albums of the decade so far.

Ok yes fair enough, but my point mostly stands. It's the combo of her established legacy AND continued relevance that makes Taylor such a unique case.

There’s really not an artist with a comparable period of dominance. I think it’s probably part of the reason why there’s a lot of backlash against her right now. People are ready for some new faces in pop, which is why the big buzzy artists of the summer are Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan.

Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist

Charlie Puth already received the greatest honor a musician could receive: getting to sing the song that played over this scene.

Yea, I definitely think we're seeing people ready for a switch up. Will be interested to see how it affects Taylor, and whether she bounces back once again in the future.

My feeling is that Taylor will be totally fine, but probably won't reach a higher apex than the Eras Tour.

TBH Charlie needs to write better songs or have a more engaging personality.

I thoroughly enjoy songs he’s written for other artists.

Honestly, with as much unwanted exposure I got of her and Travis, if they next album has anything to do with him, I'll be annoyed with it.
