Riot Fest 2024 Tour • Page 121

  1. I read it as five stages total, and they're all the same size. With roughly the same number of bands as usual (and presumably no headliner that demands an unopposed slot), I don't see why they'd go to more stages.

Make sure to go creep around Bachelor's Grove at night.

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

    Band wise, 2014 was incredible

fest wise, the downpour the first day made the weekend a mess lol

still the only year I’ve gone

And getting to the stage down the hill took way too long.

That would really stink if they don’t have a smaller stage. Some of my favorite sets were at Rebel.

Depends on how far you're willing to go.

Making everyone who used the main entrance hike around from Division/California to North was silly.

i think im still warming up to this line up . there arent many i actively dislike, but i didnt have that many instant "holy shits!' either, especially in the upper card - when look at everything above the marleys, the only instant must sees for me are sublime, cypress hill, the hives, and SoCo. but also i will absolutely get myself excited about public enemy, pavement, st. vincent, Mastadon and a few others by September

the Nofx vs headliner will be tough choices every night, may depend on which albums nofx does (if they do any). NOFX probably gets the easiest win over slayer but the other two may be game time decisions.

things heat up once we get to the nofx marquee and the bottom section with that incredible hardcore line up + sincere engineer, souls of mischief, the mysterines and saxsquatch. Lords of the lost being a Eurovision band makes them an attraction ill need to check out at least for a bit, haha

  10. Wasn't there some weird political aspect to making that the "main" entrance? I lived in Logan then and walking to the north entrance was so convenient.

Definitely my thought too. I don't think it's even really a "map" and we'll have a clearer idea of the layout a lot closer to the fest.

I wish I could remember but probably. 2014 was when they were foolishly convinced to go bigger by the alderman.

I’m preparing myself for the inevitability of Fall Out Boy vs NOFX vs Bright Eyes. At their best, my 3 favorite acts on the lineup. But god can they all be hit or miss performance & setlist wise.

I can already see myself standing through a drunken, sloppy Bright Eyes set only to find out later FOB played mostly pre-hiatus songs and NOFX did The Decline

I'm having the opposite reaction. The more I look at it, the better it gets! It's got the perfect balance of bands I don't ever miss, bands I've never seen or are rare to see, and bands that I'd like to watch but won't stress about missing. The NOFX stage is a nice microchosm of the whole thing for me. I plan on watching NOFX at least 2/3 of the nights (probably Saturday/Sunday). The Descendents, Lawrence Arms, LJG/Catbite, ALL, and D4 are must-sees. The Exploited, Defiant, Swingin' Utters, D.O.A., and Dead Millkmen are skips; and everything else are "nice-to-sees" because I've seen them recently.

Conveniently, with the exception of Fall Out Boy none of the higher-tier acts are a "must-see" for me. I'd like to catch a bit of Beck, St. Vincent, Rob Zombie, and the Offspring but I won't lose any sleep if I skip out on them for something I'm more actively into.

FWIW, NOFX have been pretty on-point this entire run and whenever they do The Decline it tends to be toward the end of the set. The bummer is that they'll probably do it only once throughout the weekend so Friday will be a crapshoot. Hah.

Their social media person is weirdly responsive too. If you make a post asking which day they play that one there's a chance they get back to you with a vague confirmation ("I can tell you that it WON'T be Saturday winkwinknudgenudge").

Yes but if the timeline is correct a Riot Fest lawyer also contacted them so now they are a party to this.

Just another unsurprising moment where this festival has pissed someone off without concern and has to deal with another PR fallout.

Oh, I agree with that. Having a lawyer contact them instead of having seatgeek and the mayor handle it made them a party to the issue.

This was my first Riot Fest and I've been going ever since. I was by asked by a friend to go only a few days before the fest and was not aware it existed. He said a 3 day pass was $100 and you can see The Cure, The Offspring play Smash and Slayer play Reign in Blood. That was a deal of a lifetime.

I remember Sunday The Cure had a 3 hour set. I watched them, then went and watched Weezer, then went back to watch The Cure. It was like a set within set which was so cool.

Then we stayed at a house where Plague Vendor was staying but we shifted between the cellar and the hallway for sleeping. Man, those were some times.

They're a "party" to it but the ultimate responsibility is definitely not on them. I'd imagine the lawyer was probably calling with a pretty inane question to fill-in some details with a contract, assuming things had been communicated that hadn't. The way it's written it would have been real easy for them to throw the festival under the bus but they didn't really do that.

It sounds like Riot was working with the city and the city didn't communicate properly before or after the whole thing was announced. Feels pretty explainable to me, TBH. On the festival's side, anyway. For the city and the mayor? Entirely different scenario.

Will be curious to see how this unfolds and I really hope Riot does or says something about this.

EDIT: Just to be clear, regardless of whose responsible, I think this really blows. Particularly because it was done to a women's sports team. Money talks, capitalism, Riot's just trying to survive, whatever. I get that. But it still fucking sucks.

After scouring the line-up last night, what are the odds that it's Action/Adventure? Could also see Catbite being in the mix, thinking on it...

And that's one that would finally get me to go! LOL

i cant speak to the logistics of holding both in the space with all thats needed to run both, but if riot and the stars came together and tried to still hold the game at seat geek and gave riot fest attendees low cost/discounted entry to sit in all the least sold sections - they could really put some butts in seats for people who arent into beck or NOFX, or just want to try something different at riot fest. thats all probably just a daydream though, im sure the red stars would have many reasons to say no to that
