The Concert Photography Thread Tour

I'm surprised there's not a thread already for this!

As someone heavily into concert photography, I feel like we definitely needed something like this!

Post your favorite concert pictures, the ones you've taken and have fun with it!

How soon do you have to reach out to shoot artists etc ?

 

Yeah I’m also curious how this works. I’m an avid photographer and would love to dip my toes into some concert photography

Usually 2 weeks before the show should be good. Although for example, when I tried to shoot Chvrches I reached 3 weeks before and the list was full. For stadiums shows I reached like 1 month before

For most bands you will have to reach for their PR and request a pass, although its likely that you will need a publication that backs you up. Some bands will let you do it as a freelance photographer and other just to get experience, but I never had luck this way.

There are some venues that will let you go in with your camera, and thats a good starting point for it.

This year is going slow for me, but November last year I shot Muse and Bad Omens (among others) at a festival in Mexico.

Im hoping I can get a photo pass for Green Day at their San Diego date in September, and WWWY festival.

Some pics from Mammoth WVH's first ever UK headline show in Birmingham!!

 

Only pic I took from the Korn London gig couple of weeks was this one because I was having way too much fun to take any other pics!

 

I saw Cannibal Corpse last night and they were awesome and even though they were a band member down due to Erik Rutin's house being destroyed in the hurricanes in Florida so he had to fly back to the states to be with his family so the rest of the band carried on as a 4 piece and they still sounded heavy and tight as fuck without missing a beat and Corpsegrinder was funny as fuck with his banter in between songs!

I got to see Wednesday 13 last night in Wolverhampton and the last time I saw him live was over 15 years ago.. maybe longer! But anyways he was doing an Murderdolls only set and him and his band were fucking awesome!!

 

Got back from seeing Soil with hed pe, Nonpoint and The Union Underground supporting and it was fucking awesome!!
