as a 34 year old I felt like I was having an inception moment reading this. Obviously our larger experiences are shared by like everyone here but this felt especially poignant as someone who joined my college’s concert commission in 08/09, filled to the brim with stomp-clap-hey indie kids (and a dwindling dearth of scene kids) who actually put on a kid cudi show hahah.

in all seriousness though it wasn’t until I saw MCR’s breakup on CNN’s website that I really appreciated how big the scene was, though (IME) that largely just meant paramore/FOB/MCR got some airplay with the big radio rock bands of the day. Even now I roll my eyes a little when I see people post memes about the scene when (it seems) their involvement was just hearing the singles on the radio. Throughout that entire era, screamo was still very uncool. My point though is I still can’t wrap my head around that many people dropping that much cash to hear 2-3 songs they like (and for the same reason, I always complain in band threads about set lists catering to casual listeners). Obviously they exist, buoyed (if not outnumbered) by those of us who would go no matter what, but idk anyone in real life who loves the deeper cuts of the scene enough to see them live that doesn’t already still listen to this music anyway.

Oddly enough there are some albums there that came out after the scene’s peak, or I guess during the bubble, so I was surprised to see them included. For example I would’ve hoped to see PTV play their first record - at the time Collide came out it already felt like that sub genre was dying (though apparently I was wrong).

My timeline & events & experiences match up the same as well, I turn 34 this year & was on my college's events board. This is all very validating

Love the lineup, I just don't feel compelled to spend $500+ on a ticket to something I can probably get for less than half of that a few weeks before.

I feel like I’m the only one hyped for that album play. If I were going, that one would be a top set for me

I've never listened to any Nada Surf album in full & you 2 have persuaded me to finally do so

We're at the halfway point between these going on sale & the fest weekend, & the 2nd day never sold out. I believe the other 2 sold out pretty much right away? I'd love to have a less crowded day, but I imagine they'll drop the price to sell it out

I'm not sure how you could go any bigger than the first two years. I mean 2023 alone had a double headliner of Green Day and Blink 182 with a stacked undercard. Only eventual thing to do is to reunite Panic At The Disco.

Echoing my earlier posts, but for me, it being 99% album plays is so much bigger than the first 2 years. Clearly I’m not everyone & I’m in the minority (4.5 months & it still hasn’t sold out) but I’d much rather see full albums than what is essentially an Emo Nite playlist. I’ve seen almost 60 albums in full & this is gonna get me near 75,I’m beyond excited

Brand New will likely reunite at Riot and then do a full US tour. Now sure how much demand they will have for a Vegas fest.

I would have much more interest in "full album" plays if I got to pick the album hahahaha. Honestly I have already seen at least 5 of these bands play these albums in full

    Things have changed.

I'm sure the WWWY has already tried to get them and been turned down.

  16. I just need JamisonParker to do an anniversary tour for Sleepwalker next year, or at least WWWY.

  17. same. which is why i'm not clawing my way to get to vegas.

Totally agree, several of them aren't my choice in albums but I'll take it. Just checked my spreadsheet, I've seen 14 of what's being played at this, should help make set conflicts easier I hope

I feel like full album plays are good for hardcore fans but can't think of many albums that can really keep the attention of a 60k crowd played in full. Dookie, American Idiot, Enema Of The State, Tell All Your Friends, The Black PArade, A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, Riot are really the only ones that I think could do well.

Would love for them to announce FOB doing different albums each day or even just unique setlists. Feel the latter is possible considering they covered almost their discography on their recent runs.

Could see them ending up doing a full album over the two nights if they did do the latter.

Might help shift some extra tickets

    Second one never sold out

Album plays sold me on this but I get that most people aren’t big album listeners. I went to Just Like Heaven the other day and heard so many people complaining about Death Cab’s setlist when it was just Transatlanticism like they’ve been doing for the last year lol

Yeah it didn’t really look like a lot of people were into Death Cab’s set. I was because I love that album, but I kind of saw their set and PS’s set as like an “encore” show to their tour in the fall. They played three sold-out shows at the bowl and I thought there still would’ve been hype for it… But I guess not

I had fun at the Death Cab set, which I knew was going to be Transatlanticism in full so I wasn't surprised, but I personally would have enjoyed a greatest hits way more, even though that is my favorite album of theirs. Postal Service way outshined them in my opinion.

It would’ve been cool if they had a full hour so they could’ve added some other songs, but I understand why this wasn’t the case. Time crunch for the fest and for the band, keeping the continuity of the tour
