we've seen the shadow of the axe before Supporter

They filmed an unrated/unedited version also that I suppose will show up on the DVD/blu-ray release.
Exactly. They say not even the cast knows who died, but then they say if you watch closely, there are hints that allude to who it is. Also, apparently other members of the group are calling out for that person, but their voices are muffled because whoever is getting their brains bashed in, was incoherent so it's muffled.

    Give what you can.

Oh I know. That show made me wayyyyy too analytical and that's a hard switch to flip off even when watching trashy shit like this episode. That's not to say I think every episode has been as knuckle draggingly stupid and blue ball inducing as this one, because they haven't. That's what makes this shitty episode tough to digest.

I just checked my iTunes version which has had uncensored episodes before. Still no swears.

This episode wasn't shitty at all. Just because you don't agree with the cliffhanger, doesn't mean it's a bad episode. There were definitely some questionable calls, now, the episode right before this one was bad.

Cliffhanger aside, there was a lot more I didn't like than did. The tension from the RV scenes were great, but they dragged it out too long. That and the Carol storyline came out of nowhere and completely went against all the building of her character we've had this season.

Good catch. You could probably say the same for Daryl if that's the case. But at the same time it probably means nothing based on how horrible that blood was. If that was actually a POV you would never actually see red blood coming down the outside of your eyes. If you had blood all of a sudden in your eyes you would close them immediately.

Was it a cliffhanger in the comic? If so I don't know why people are complaining. I also don't know why people are surprised.

And I think we're underestimating TWDs vast fanbse. Nobody is going to stop watching...

Though overall I thought the episode was pretty boring up until the end.

Not a cliffhanger. We see who gets killed, very clearly and very brutally. It's a huge turning point that completely changed the series.

Not a cliffhanger. And it's the most iconic and crazy moment for the books that almost defines it.

That's why the show screwed up.

IDK if I want to start the comics or not. I have compendium 1 but have never started it. I'm a huge fan so not 100% sure why I haven't, I just know it's partially because the show was the starting point for me so maybe I want to keep it sacred or something. I want the show to be the thing that brings me all the surprises and shocks and not the comics. I guess I'll start the comics and see how it goes. Also I hate being spoiled on the show when someone says something about the comics that hasn't happened yet. I have to tread very cautiously when reading things on the internet about the show because of that.

I don't think that people no longer continuing to watch the show is ever an issue. It's that they're repeatedly using the same cheap tactic to get people to keep watching that's the problem. There weren't really too many iconic scenes from this past season that really stuck with me because every exciting moment was cut in half by a cliffhanger (or even left unresolved or glossed over). I think a ton of people are in the same boat as me where they are still fans of the show but feel betrayed by these stupid ambiguous endings and have invested so much time in it, they just say "Eh, I might as well keep going"

Fucking livid right now. Fuck AMC. No guts. I hope whoever is killed gets leaked before the premiere and ruins their bullshit

I bet the producers are loving how fired up people are, thinking "ha we're really teasing them and building up that anticipation!" when in reality it's because they literally botched a huge moment and tainted an otherwise great episode.

I don't like the way it was done. It's gimmicky and cheap. Really takes away from the impact of Negans arrival. I understand why they would do it this way and it makes sense from an entertainment standpoint, but I always thought that this moment was above that. I guess I was wrong.

Man, the more I thought on this the less I liked it. I was semi okay with how it ended last night, but it was just such a huge cop out and made it seem like Gimple and Co. Are just relying on fan reaction to get them through the summer rather than an actually interesting story and character development. It also seems like they're using Negan's arrival as a McGuffin to hide how little good character development they've had recently, between carol, Morgan, and the problems of what to do with Daryl

It's gotta be Abraham. There is one saving grace. And that's Rick. It wouldn't happen at all b

Really? What didn't you like other than the ending? I don't think you can say the whole episode was trash. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I loved the episode. The acting was as good as it's ever been. There was lots of really cool shots. We got bitch nuts. Yeah, I'm bummed about the ending but other than that I think the episode was fantastic.

    Must be me.

I'm not quite sure which show we're talking about now since I don't agree with the connection you drew, but to my knowledge it's only highly HIGHLY likely Jon Snow is back in some form beyond a corpse. Not definitive.

It wasn't a bad episode overall. Ending ruined it and the Carol Morgan side story was pretty weak.

I find it hard to believe that the actors themselves don't know. I feel like they definitely would've filmed that entire scene at the time and then filmed the POV shot. AMC probably has them on a gag order or something.

Also, those shots of Negan's men everytime Rick-n-Friends came to an impasse on the road reminded me alot of the publicity photos the media uses for ISIS. Their numbers grew with each roadblock. That was legit terrifying.

The episode had a bunch of issues - number one is the structure, because it certainly didn't need to be 90 minutes long and the incessant commercial breaks sapped the tension out at every turn - and the second is the continued muddling of Carol and Morgan. The RV plot was generally fine, but could have been condensed rather easily.
