the things I see people doing while driving / while they are supposed to be driving are absolutely fucking mind boggling

Lol for real. I'm just glad 16 removed the toll booths between Dover and Portsmouth because people were regularly smashing into those too! Like, how!? There's a million signs saying tolls are coming up, anyone with a brain should know to slow down for those haha

 

I live right next to my job/gym/most good restaurants without having to take the freeway so I’m lucky it’s not too bad. Yesterday in Pasadena though I tried making a left turn at a yield light that took literally 20 minutes though lmao

I think we’ve beaten this topic to death now but it really is probably the biggest fumble of his cabinet. Doug Jones a Dem AG in a deep red state who then became a Senator in a deep red state, and who had some fight to him, and you don’t make him your AG. I def get the urge to rub Merrick Garland in their faces but idk. Jones was clearly the better pick.

Doug Jones aside (he'd've been a better AG but so would a ton of people), this speaks to the complete fuckup that was the selection and then lionization of Merrick Garland:

Obama did not pick Merrick Garland for supreme court justice because he was some great mind on the left. It was literally the opposite. He was an incredibly moderate justice who was selected as an attempt to make republicans look bad for turning him down. They'd turn him down, have egg on their face, then Hillary could get to come in and pick someone better.

Of course, republicans didn't actually get any real heat for rejecting the moderate, instead got democrats turning the moderate into a hero who somehow was qualified to be AG.

So like, if Obama had actually picked someone good, they'd've still gotten the same attacks from the right, the same heroizing from the dems... only they'd actually have been qualified to properly handle the opportunities that arose from that heroizing.

I’m really surprised I’m normal honestly. I spent 14 months without going inside a single building other than my house, but the second I was able to go back out my life immediately unpaused and I pretty much never think about covid

I'm more normal than I expected to be, but I still always have hand sanitizer with me that I use pretty often and always alcohol wipe my desk at work when I get in because we have a desk rental system and don't actually have our own. I only wear a mask inside a pharmacy really.

I was going insane for the first couple of years though. Didn't go in any stores, curbside or delivery for everything. Always at home, allowed to WFH full time

 

I think about it enough for like 8 people at least so it balances out

 

I had covid in late feb/march and with the lack of a new variant that current antibodies can't handle + numbers being much lower, I have not been doing much now, but I'll still be wearing masks come next school year, only going to the grocery stores at night+wearing masks, doing curbside pickup, etc. It sucks because it definitely limits our ability to do certain things on certain days or at certain times (or at all), especially with our son, but, yeah.

Know enough about this virus that I know I don't want me or anyone I love getting it over and over and over again.

 

Also my heart going into AFib less than 3 months after my having COVID is a bit on the nose. No thank you on more infections.

 

I'm not normal, but it has nothing to do with Covid.
